We spent an afternoon wandering through the Palazzo and enjoyed every minute of it. The building is imposing and beautiful from the outside, reminiscent of some ancient castles from Scotland (Crichton comes to mind). Yes you must buy a ticket, but even on a Sunday...More

We ended out Ferrara visit at the Palazzo dei Diamante. Before seeing it in person, I had assumed that the diamond exterior was tilework, rather than an embossed pattern. The courtyard was restful and offered park benches.

You gotta purchase tickets when you enter and sometimes there will be a queue, but then again a good visit in Emilia-Romagna region this is! :)

I know other diamond buildings - the prismatic ornaments of their facades - but this one is certainly one the most imposing and well preserved.

Temporary exhibition of the hero in Ariosto's monumental poem. The building also houses paintings of the Renaissance in Ferrara's rich history.

We visited the exhibition dedicated to Ariosto's "The frenzy of Orlando". Maybe the exhibition itinerary wasn't exactly scientific, but it was full of masterpieces and absolutely worth seeing! A lovely and extremely pleasant experience.

Even if you do not know the book well, the show is terrific! A very imaginative selection of objects related to the book, including paintings, tapestries, weapons, plus some beautiful manuscripts. Great audio guide comes with the ticket.

When we arrived at the main entrance we were completely confused between choosing the special exhibition ("Orlando Furioso") and the pinacotecca which we wanted to visit. So we paid €13 per person to find out that we are in the wrong exhibition (ground level) and...More
