We traveled to magical Erice at the end of November and stayed there for 24 hours. There really is not much to see inside the castle since it's all ruins but the views are breathtaking and you can see the salt flats of Tripani and Egadi Islands. Also, the outside of this medieval castle all lit up at night is... More

The view from this area is spectacular. We didn't visit the castle itself but this cosy neighborhood is more than worth the walk uphill. Although there were a lot of tourists in Erice at the time of our visit, the park and the viewpoint were quiet so we could really enjoy the view from this special place, right in-between the... I went here in 1978 and meet my family, I'm from America and my paternal grandfather is from here. I meet my entire family and it was wonderful. The town is splendid, my granddad used to mend the streets when he was young and then became a cobbler around 20, then came to America through Ellis Island. I'm going back... More

Nice walk through the old city of Erice, great view to from the castle all sides (national park on North, Trapani on South). Worth seeing!

I want to see this sight since we've seen so many churches. The castle ruins themselves were not that impressive, but it was the surrounding views that made this stop worth it. The view of Trapani coast towards Monte Cafano was worth it alone!

Okay, so the castle is nothing special (castles - wise) but just the whole town, the atmosphere and views are so very worth visiting. A small town with narrow streets and brick walls on top of the hill - it's magical. The castle itself is fine but the scenic views of it and from it are spectacular. One of my... More

Nice ruins of this old castle, but it's just bricks. Nothing to really recognize besides the walls. A bit disappointing for 4 euros a person. I really like visiting old Castles / ruins, but this was a bit disappointing / nothing special. It only looks good from the outside (make some nice pictures) bit going into the castle isn't needed.

It's not really a castle it's more of a ruin and that's also very interesting but the price was a bit high. 4 euro p.p. You have a great view of the valley and the see. The ruins itself is a 10 min walk with a couple of info signs that tell you what there use to be. You need... More

My family recently drove to Erice and spent the day strolling through the town. It is a beautiful place. We chose to tour the Castello de Venere. My only complaint was that it was not worth the money. It was nice but not worth it. Save your money and buy a pastry at one of the little shops!! All my... More

Having visited Erice with the cable lift we walked around the more silent streets of this little village escaping the hords of tourists hopping of the busses. Then slowly we went through the centre towards the castle where we paid an extra 4€ a person. They also sold guides regarding the Venus background of the castle for 1 and 2€... More
