The Cefalu Rock is an inexpensive 1 hour train journey from Palermo and well worth the visit.
Once a place of worship, castle and fortified town, it's now a place where goats may gently graze, pretty much as they have done for millenia.
Climbed to the top to afford fabulous views.
The climb was steep and challenging and sometimes rubble underfoot making it quite slippy. Not the easiest thing to do however well worth the effort on a cooler day.
