In the summer evening there is always something happening there.

Nice piazza to visit in your evening walk. It always draws a hugh crowd, because every evening there's something going on over there. Nearby there are tons of cafes where you can drink or eat something while watching the crowds pass by.

The heart of Cattolica
Aug 2016 • Family
This pretty fountain is the focal point in a pedestrianised round piazza close to the seafront. During the daytime the square is largely deserted - in the summer it can get very hot here but are seats around the circumference which have offer some shade so you can sit and admire the statues of the sirens.
In the evening the square is the focal point for street entertainment and many people choose to sit around the fountain and face away from it - typically there are buskers, jugglers, fire eaters - even break dancers! Once a week local artists have evening exhibitions of their work setting up easels around the fountain so tourists can browse and hopefully buy!
Cattolica is known for it's fountains and there is a garden next to the piazza with fountains but directly facing the Fontana Delle Sirene are the 'dancing fountains' which perform a twice nightly 'Son et Lumiere' display. Jets of water, illuminated by submerged coloured lights, pulse in time to music - from classical to rock.
The shows attract large crowds. The last show ends at starts at 11 pm and lasts 15 minutes after which the square quickly quietens down.
The fountain is also a backdrop to rock concerts and there has even been bungee jumping there.
There is a large McDonalds on one side of the piazza and just outside you can find horse drawn carriages plying their trade.

Nice fountain with sirenes and turtles
Jul 2015 • Solo
As part of my bicycle tour across Cattolica and Gabicce Mare I passed this nice round "square" with the fountain of sirenes, also called "Mermaid Fountain". On the outside are water spouting turtles. The fountain, that includes three curvaceous mermaids or “sirene” sensually enveloped in cloths, was created in 1928 by the sculptor from Forli, Giuseppe Casalini who used his nineteen-year-old daughter Francesca as a model.
