Passing through Castellina we stumbled upon the Etruscan tombs. Short uphill walk from car park. Wouldn't go out of my way but good to see. Made us Google the history. 15 mins light switch wasn't quite enough!

The turn off for the tomb is not well signed and the parking area is limited. It's worth a brief stop to see the burial rooms.

4 amazing Etruscan tombs - this is a must see. We would have driven right past these, however our guide recommended. Great condition - don't forget to hit the button for the light switch on the way up the hill!

Just around the corner from Castellini you drive up a long drive between cypress trees to a hill and then walk up the hill to the tomba as the locals call it. What was there was frankly amazing - 4 Etruscan tombs from the 6...More

Easy to find and so interesting. Until visiting the area the word "Etruscan" meant very little. Burial Rights have been performed and honoured since the beginning of humanity - this is a wonderful preservation of a "sacred" site. Take a torch and let your eyes...More
