High winds and trees down, blocking the path
Apr 2019 • Couples
We just got back from walking the path today (Sunday May 5, 2019) from Bardolino to Lazise. It took us 2 hours to get to Lazise because a huge cypress came down over the path and we had to get back up to the highway for a bit before coming back down to the path only to find another tree had just come down - we scaled that tree while the police were putting the caution tape up. The path itself was much more like a sidewalk than I was expecting ( after recently hiking cinque Terre trails maybe that was what I was expecting). On a warm summer day this would be a nice piece of cake! We enjoyed lunch in lovely Lazise and got the bus back to Bardolino. It was a fun adventure in some rather crazy windy weather (at least the rain held off or it would have been very miserable).

There's still a margin of improvement

Very nice pathway, following the coast of the lake, with nice trees and areas with benches where you can rest. Unfortunately some spots are not well kept (probably because there are some private proprieties where people can decide to leave their own boat or other things) and the path is the same for pedestrians and bicycles: a simple line to divide the two tracks would be an idea, but when the weather is good, it is so full of pedestrians that you have not so many chances to use your bike. All over it's a very nice walk, in particular if your hotel is in the middle of it, so that you can choose which direction to go, since it is a pretty long way if you wanna do it by walk side to side, or better town to town.

Not a dinamic cicling

The cycle path is also pedestrian, you have to go very slowly, those who love cycling in the sense of physical activity / sport do not choose this destination. There are bike paths that go from Bardolino and Garda inland, towards the countryside, where we hoped not to find pedestrians, but the signage is very bad, we could not find them. In addition, the hotels and camping should have maps with the cycle paths at the reception, but ours did not have them.

This is a lakeside pathway that runs from Bardolino to Garda.
We hired cycles from our hotel and rode along it to Garda on the way to climb up a rocky promontory and view point called Rocco- it is flat and easy but picturesque and Garda is a pretty town worth visiting.
The walk up Rocca was not strenuous and well worth the effort seeing a red squirrel and lots of butterflies and found a lovely restaurant 1/2 way down for a much needed beer followed by a gentle cycle back to our hotel in Bardolino.
The path continues in the other direction to a small town called cisano where there is a small natural history museum that worth a visit and 3km further on is Lazise an ancient fortified town that must not be missed. These towns can all be visited by the lake ferries from Bardolino pier too

Very nice way to spend half a day

My wife and I walked from south of Bardolino to Garda and really enjoyed this traffic free foot/bike path. It is level and even and you need to be aware of cyclists at all times but that doesn’t detract from the pleasure. There are numerous places to stop and rest to take refreshment if you wish, but we resisted the temptation until we got to Garda.
Instead of walking back to Bardolino we caught the 13.30 ferry which took just ten minutes to return us to Bardolino at the cost of 3€ each, well worth it.
Fitter, younger people will no doubt walk both ways!!

gentle walking

We stay in Bardolino and enjoy the walks to Garda and in the other direction Cisano and Lazise. It is a lovely steady walk either way with beautiful views across the lake. You share the path with cyclists and this can be difficult in places. there doesn't seem to be any rules applied to the cyclists (there are signs about riding at walking pace) and some can be inconsiderate to walkers. This didn't stop our walking but you have to be very aware especially near Cisano.

Nice and easy walk
Jul 2018 • Couples
If you want a good walk during your holiday this is the one to do, it takes almost two hours but there are so many places you can stop un the way and so many places to have a drink and a break.
It is not difficult at all, it is straight not hills up or down the only thing you have to look out for is bycicles, the patch is busy and most of the byciclers do not that much concideration to the people walking on the paths.
But It is a beautiful walk along the lake so get out and enjoy it.
