Originally built on the remains of Roman floors and walls this church was rebuilt in the 18th century.

This church is named after two martyrs who were brothers who lived between the third and fourth centuries.

The current church was totally rebuilt in a Baroque style in the 1760's with the bell tower being completed in 1786 and the facade being remodelled in 1893. The exterior is rather plain being of white plaster with the facade divided into two sections by a horizontal cornice. In the bottom section of the facade there are two Corinthian pilasters on either side of the large portal whilst on the upper section there are two pilasters either side of a rectangular window.

The interior of this church is quite lovely. The church has a single nave which is separated by two side chapels that contain two beautiful paintings. The barrel vaulted ceiling with a dome is also richly painted and decorated with stucco, much of which is gilded. The altar is rather plain except for a painting depicting the church's saints, Cosmas and Damian, with an archangel healing an invalid. Unfortunately we were unable to get a full picture of the interior as there were major renovations being undertaken.

Worth a look.

You never know what these old church interiors are like but this one's inside is very nice but the sad thing is that it was undergoing restoration.

Often overlooked
Oct 2016 • Couples
It does not stand out amid all of the retail in the area, but it is worth a quick visit.

It was built in the 13th century on the old Roman walls. It was rebuilt in the 1760’s, and revised in the mid 1800’s giving us most of what we see today.

Note the altar with the 18th Century painting of the Holy Family by Pietro Paolo Operti.
