The drive itself is fun... when the weather is clear. It's likely much more difficult with bad weather and would make me think twice before taking it on.
The absolute highlight here is the picture perfect lake, set against dramatic mountains, above the Connor pass waterfall. A short climb up the rocks by the side of the waterfall reveals this hidden paradisiacal gem of a place. It's incredible to be completely enveloped by such natural beauty... moments that we'll cherish for a long time

We left Dingle headed for the Cliffs of Moher via Tralee and the Conor Pass. If the weather is good, this is no more challenging than the Ring of Kerry or the Slea Head Loop--if you've already driven those you can totally handle Conor Pass. Buses and trucks are prohibited, so it's actually easier. And if the weather is bad, there's no point in going up there. There are 2 narrow stretches where traffic is 1 way at a time, but they are (relatively) straight, visibility is good, and there are clearly widened areas where you can pull over and wait. Views are spectacular, and Pedlar's Lake is a quick, 5-minute scramble up the rocks from the waterfall parking area to reach the glacial lake and more great views of the valley.

This is an absolute must do! This was our second trip to Ireland. The views are incredible and you will never forget it. The drive is not for the weak of heart. It is curves and has many blind spots. We navigated this in a 9 passenger commercial van, but slow, careful, and respectful made it all possible. If I had to do it again, I would invest in a windshield camera that you can get really cheap. One of our parties did video tape part of it and it came out incredible.

This review is for all the Nervous Nellies out there (like me). I had been anxiety-ridden about this road for months leading up to our family vacation in Ireland. Wasted energy. Other than two short stretches where the road becomes one lane, it's really no different than driving on any other of Ireland's narrow roadways (driving here is not for the timid!). Just keep your eye on the cars in front of you when on the narrow bits to make sure you don't have to back up at any point to let the other side through and you'll be fine. (Keep in mind that we drove south to north on a cloudy day with no precipitation.) My family and I were so surprised that the Pass was over by the time we were heading back down the mountain that we never even took any photos!

Amazing drive through Conor Pass.

We returned back to Dublin this was and it was so worth it.

The viewing points are not far from Dingle at all so would highly recommend adding it to your trip.

Make sure when stopping at the water fall to climb up the rocks to the lake - very pretty.

What an incredible experience! We drove the pass coming from Limerick and headed to Dingle. When we started up the pass the weather was warm and slightly overcast. By the time we made it to the top of the pass, there was a thick mist in the air and the temperature was significantly cooler. We parked and enjoyed the small waterfall, as well as the numerous sheep climbing along the rocks, seemingly unbothered by the two Americans who kept bleating at them like a pair of idiots. :) We spent 15-20 minutes looking around and taking deep breathes of the crisp, clean air. As we headed back down we were greeted with sunshine, blue skies, and the most vivid rainbow I've ever seen. It was a definite must-do. However, please make note of the cautions regarding vehicle size. We had someone try to come through in an RV (caravan) and it caused a traffic nightmare. The restrictions exist for a reason.

Whilst staying in Tralee for a few days, we had to drive the Conor Pass and it did not disappoint. We were lucky it was a lovely sunny day, the scenery was amazing and the drive was both exciting and terrifying at the same time!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed it and drove up and down the pass a few times the same day.
We also parked up at the small car park at the waterfall and climbed the rocks up to the lake with more fantastic scenery from up there. Bit of a rocky climb up and down but worth it, especially if you bring a picnic with you.

We drove this to and from our tour of the Ring of Kerry. Both times, it was foggy at the top with no views. But it was still pretty in a different way. As we went over the pass on our way to the Dingle Penisula after we submitted and started down, the fog lifted, and we had an amazing view of Dingle. It is not for the faint of heart as the road near the top is very narrow and one has to pull over to let other vehicles by and sometimes back up to find a place wide enough to pull over. I learned here that I could pull my mirrors in when passing on very narrow Irish roads.

Conor Pass is a natural formation located in Dingle Peninsula, in the West of Ireland. It is a very nice place to stop and relax. Also, I recommend you , walking around the place and seeing the sea and some lakes. Pitifully, we came here on a cloudy day, so it was not possible to see the best views of the place. We have to return in the future.

This is a great drive to make while in Ireland. It is well worth your time. The views are stunning and the drive is not terrible. There is so much to see. Stop and climb the rocks to the lake above the waterfall. We loved it. I don't think you will be disappointed.
