Fantastic Tour
Jul 2020 • Couples
We have been interested in the process of producing pata negra for some time and finally the moment was there. On the drive down to Jabuga from Zafra we had fantastic scenary. We booked a tour including visit to a farm. Our guide Diego (fluent english speaker) shared all his knowledge. Afterwards we went to the curing facility and museum where we tasted the ham 100% Iberico. Thank you Diego!

The tour takes about an hour, it is very professionally done and an excellent insight into the expertise that goes into preparing the best hams in Spain

What a great place - if you've ever wanted to know about jamón ibérico, at the very best it can be, then this is the place to come. People passionate about pigs!

We started by going for a walk on the dehesa (an old ecosystem that I had never learned about before) to find the pigs, 3 ha. per pig so could have been tricky, but luckily they came to us.

Then it was a short trip to Jabugo where the second part of the magic takes place. The tour was a good mix of passionate talks and (well put together) interactive technology that took you deep into the preservation of traditions and perfection of technique before the climax...

...of course, the tasting of the product! This we were walked through again by a passionate person.

In fact everyone was so good and so passionate our entire group took jamón ibérico home (the product is very good) but we were persuaded to eat at the home restaurant that doesn't disappoint.

My only worry is that I learned so much that that, whenever I see a leg at home I'll bore them with my tales on how to tell Cinco Jotas is so much higher quality!

Jamón Ibérico
Apr 2019 • Couples
We had a lovely, comprehensive tour of the Bodega as well as a visit to the meadows where you can see and walk amongst the Pata Negra Ibérico pigs. We reserved online a few weeks ago for an English speaking tour and had the pleasure of a very well organized, informative and interesting tour. Jago, our guide was excellent and we highly recommend this tour if you love jamón as we do or also as a great way to learn about Ibérico. We added a broad tasting of jamón which included Sherry. The tastings were generous and very delicious. The quality of the jamón is the very best. Do yourself a favor and take a visit.

We booked this tour from the States. 15 euros each. Got there late as it took forever to get our rental car sorted, so we missed our appointed time. They made an extra tour for the three of us. We loved it. Learned a lot about the pigs, history, the process. Tour ends with a sampling of the gorgeous jamon. There is an extended tasting one canbook, if desired. (Nite: we also had a lovely lu ch in the adjacent bodega, reviewed separately... And when researching, we saw other tours for far more money).
Fantastic jamon. Lovely tour.

A must do visit if you enjoy 'Jamon Iberico'!
Oct 2018 • Couples
We have visited Iberican ham producers before but Cinco Jotas was by far the best overall experience. If you happen to be anywhere near this area & are lovers of Pata Negra then this is a must do visit but book in advance.
Our guide was an English lad born & brought up in the area who not only had a great knowledge of Iberican Ham but also ran hiw own farm the area so knew all about how the pigs are reared & looke after.
Indeed our visit included a trip out to a local farm on the Dehesa to see some of the pigs being reared & looked after which itself was a revelation. We had no idea of the strict rules & regulations which apply to rearin these delightful animals, (such as each pig having 2 hectares of Dehesa to feed from!) & the whole experinece was both enjoyable & interesting.
The visit to the farm was followed by a tour of the Bodega to se how the Jamon is made & stored & a lesson in how to carve it properly & of course how to eat it with a nice glass of sherry! Delightful Jamon it was too & we would thoroughly recommend this half day visit to anyone who is remotely interested in grreat Jamon Iberico.
All in all a great experince & well worth the €60 a head fee.

All about the Pig
Nov 2017 • Couples
We visited the Dehesa and the Bodegas Fundadores in Jabugo. Our guide spoke both Spanish and English and made our visit very personal to us. He was full of very interesting information and made the history come alive. The Dehesa visit was via a beautiful path which worth seeing on its own. The pigs were very friendly and curious. On returning to the Bodega were were treated to a full visit to the old building which has been thoughtfully maintained. The Jamon vaults are fantastic and the Jamon tasting rounded off a great 3 hours.
