A brilliant day out
Oct 2021 • Family
I took my children age 9 and 7 and we completed the longer course desgined for adults and older children. It didn't matter at all that the children were younger than suggested. They loved it and were captivated by the amazing sets and hidden doors. Some of the tasks were easy enough for them to figure out themselves too. Enigmaparc has been designed with care and attention and the staff seem to really want everyone to get the most from the experience and have a good time. I was nervous about my very basic level of French but the staff were fluent in English and incredibly helpful. The English version of clues was a great help too! I absolutely recommend this place - both myself and the children came away with brilliant memories, having had a lot of fun together.

If you in Bretagne and have an Afternoon to kill i really recommand that Park. It will take at least 4 hour to explore every World so don't go there in the middle of the Afternoon. Great fun for kids and adults

I have been wanting to visit Enigmaparc for a few years now and somehow never got round to it.

This time, with my children’s enthusiasm at a high, we drove from Domaine des Ormes and decided to give it a go. It’s about an hour away from Les Ormes - a nice easy drive.

We arrived to a lady who was not only really friendly, but her English was excellent too. English visitors are taken through separately and given the story in English, along with an information sheet - all challenges are posted on the wall in French, so you need to refer to the separate info sheet constantly. The staff ensure you know what you’re doing though.

- There is nothing to worry about if you don’t speak any French

We also had lunch there, where we had a different lady serve us, who was also very friendly and spoke excellent English. Food was reasonably priced and decent.

The world’s themselves - well I don’t want to say too much and ruin anything! There are 12 worlds, which vary in challenges. Hidden doors, traps, amazing decoration - it’s really really well done and very clever.

Don’t expect this to be a ten minute activity though. You can easily look at the clock and realise it’s been two hours without you even getting to the halfway point yet!

They change the challenges every year, so it’s something you can do more than once, without getting bored. They also introduce a new world every two years, apparently.

Would I go again? I wouldn’t stay in Bretagne again without ensuring I go! We loved it.

Just a final cautionary word though: some things might be a bit difficult and/or scary for very young children. There is a great bouncy castle though :-)

Surprisingly great fun. You turn up and it's in an industrial estate and doesn't look like much, but then you go inside and it turns into something fantastic.

It is a series of puzzle rooms that you need to solve. I think maybe 12 puzzle rooms - each with some exotic theme. There is a link between all the rooms to an overall task.

It's great. Really smart puzzles and the room and area design is really cool. Highly recommend.

If you go with young kids (in our case 3 and 7), then the kids are largely accessories to the adults doing the problem solving. But there's loads for them to do anyway so it's not a problem - the room is more the focus than the puzzle. I'd guess 8-10 is perfect for actively involving the kids in the puzzles.

Us adults had great fun anyway solving the puzzles. They give out an English booklet explaining the puzzle wordings, if that's your native language, and that works perfectly fine.

Everyone there spoke perfect English and were really friendly. Such a great day out :))))

Really great place, we went as a family with older teens. The staff were very helpful and friendly and they had the puzzles translated in to English. Was a good afternoon out.

Good way to spend an afternoon!

Had fun here - family of 4 (daughters aged 12 and 14). Time goes really quickly here. recommend it. stick to doing the main clues ...you'll run out of time otherwise. Good translations so it doesn't matter if you don't read French.

Something a bit different
Aug 2018 • Family
We - my husband and I and our two sons, aged 12 and 9 - spent a rainy afternoon here in August and had a great time. There is a great mix of things to entertain - mazes, puzzles and riddles, plus a few extras like crazy snooker (like crazy golf but on 'snooker' tables with a snooker ball and cue) and a bouncy castle for the children. Some of the puzzles are easier than others, and some are a bit more 'physical' - but there is still plenty to occupy you if you don't fancy these ones. There are 12 zones altogether, each one providing you with two answers, which all go towards solving the final puzzle. There are also additional harder puzzles if you want to try these. As English visitors, I can honestly say that not being French wasn't a problem. The staff spoke English, and we and another family were given full verbal instructions in English. We were also given an instruction sheet in English, with a small list of vocabulary at the bottom. I confess we had to make use of Google Translate a few times, and we have a very basic knowledge of French, which helped - and without doubt, you would get more out of it if French was your first language, but being a non-French speaker didn't stop us from accessing everything - clearly, given that we found all 24 answers and managed to solve the final puzzle! Some of the puzzles were a little too difficult for the children, but they were able to access most things and enjoyed all the mazes, etc. We spent a whole afternoon here, but would probably have liked a little longer, to have a go at the harder puzzles and to make more use of the additional facilities. It's a perfect rainy day activity, as it's all indoors, and it's something really different and fun. You don't have to be able to access everything - there really is something for everyone, and you can take it at your own level, plus it's really good value for what you get. Speaking as an English family with children, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to anyone!

I don't know how the previous review described this a waste of money. Staff were really welcoming and friendly. We started in each zone trying to do the main and secondary puzzles but pretty quickly worked out we wouldn't have enough time for that! We spent pretty much the whole day. It felt very "crystal mazey". A little bit of French knowledge was helpful but mine was GCSE from 20 years ago and we still managed on most things. The instructions were also in English, so while some were a bit confusing, the wordsearch of the answers helped narrow things down a bit. A great way to spend a rainy day. We need one of these near home!

Thanks a lot for your comment! We also didn't understand the precedent review..??? We have a lot of English speaking public and they appreciate Enigmaparc! We are often surprise because we note that strangers have more methodolodgy and they succed in resolving the major part of our puzzles indeed better than french people!!! :) :) :)

Having read some reviews on here we felt this was worth driving an hour to get to. What a disappointment. Tatty and tired looking and instead of being fun it turned into a very frustrating hour before we decided to give up and leave. The instructions in English were sparse to say the least. Some areas were very difficult to access as adults. It would be useful to have the English instructions up on the walls beside the French ones. As a concept it had some merit but we found it very uninspiring.

Dear Madam, We have heard the day you came that you weren’t seduced by our concept and we are really sorry about it. That’s why, in response to your remarks that day we made a goodwill gesture toward your group and it is unfair not to mention it in your comment. However, it was the first time in 10 years that an English speaking team couldn’t do the games whether it’s in a school trip, in family or between adults except maybe for people with children under 6 who still had fun visiting the mazes and finding the secret exits. Please notice that all our games are new because renewed every year and a new maze is created every two years (Dédale this year for example). But I know you didn’t go that far, too bad… Yet you had the English translation of all the games and our staff is always there to help you. We wish you great holidays in our beautiful region. Yours sincelery, The owner

We arrived quite late so only spent 3hrs here but could easily have spent all day and it is a shame we missed out on some zones. Our 10yr old was in heaven and 6yr old had good fun. We very much enjoyed the puzzles too. Beautifully crafted areas and lots of variety meant we all had a great time until kicked out at 6.45. the English translation very useful !! Staff v friendly too. Fabulous, don't miss it

Thanks a lot for this very pleasant comment! We have more and more English speaking people who visit the leisure Park and we are surprised because we notice sometimes that French people copy their answer on them !!! Very impressive! Sorry if you thought that the end of the game arrived too soon ; the closing time is at 6.45 and we close the doors often around 7. Our staff work 221 days a year so, even if it's only 15 min for you, it's 55 hours a year for them! We try to please our visitors but also to take care of our staff.
