Located in the city, this museum did not appear to be very popular and had very few visitors during our visited. We had visited just prior to noon and the museum was closing for the day, in an hours time. We had a quick tour of the museum. The museum was worth a visit and We could have spend more time going through the exhibits. As the name suggests, it is a museum, in which military artifacts and hardware are displayed. The smaller exhibits are housed inside a building, which was a small fort in the olden days, while vehicles, ships, planes and other larger exhibits are housed outside in a garden. Fee is charged for entering the museum. Photography of the exhibits is allowed.

I visited the museum in Dec'19 and it was one of my most memorable and favorite places. I thoroughly enjoyed the my time and few hours that i spend in there were the most informative. Officers who look after the museum are very helpful and pleasing personalities. I suggest one should plan atleast 2-3 hours for this museum.

Very well run museum with plenty of things to see, run by a friendly and enthusiastic staff. Outside aircraft, military vehicles and a ship! Inside lots of exhibits and displays. Highly recommended.

Museum has a nice collection of equipment and weapon used, or in use, by Oman Armed Forces. It's placed in the ex-fort. The most impressive is 40-meters patrol ship in the gardens.

I am usually not really interested in defense or any history or exhibition that has to do with it - this museum was however recommended and now we know why: it is a nice place showing not only weapons but overall the history and how the Sultans developed the country as it is now, and explanation of several details as the ranks within the army including pictures of the uniforms which you may see outside during your stay. There is also a variety of "vehicles" including a war ship which can be entered. So you can spend some nice hours there (until 13:30) and escape the heat for most of the time.
