It's worth climbing to the top for the fantastic views of the coast. It is interesting if you like forts and cannons and it's FREE. A guy at the top was very helpful and took pics but then we realised he wanted money. Oops

From the carpark to the entrance there is a climb of a hundred plus steps, so be prepared for that. Once at the top there is no entrance fee and you can walk around the 'battlements' and admire the views. There is nothing else to see, no rooms to go inside, no small museum, just the walk. However, it has been tastefully restored and I would say it is a must see, if you are in the area.…

This place dominates the harbour at Mutrah but you may need help to find the start of the lane up to it. It's not a very hard climb although there are lots of steps. It was part built by the Portuguese and has been an important defence point since the sixteenth century. Lots of cannons to see on the way up with very good explanations and as far as we can see kids can sit on them too! This is the only fort you can actually visit and the best place to take your photos of the entire harbour and corniche…
