About Eleuthera Sailing Adventures
Enjoy a day of sailing, snorkeling, beachcombing, and relaxing on the beautiful waters near Harbour Island. Eventide is a classic CSY 44 sloop, available for day sails in the protected sound behind Harbour Island, Eleuthera. She comfortably accommodates up to 12 passengers and crew. Capt. Bob Knaus has chartered his sailboat in the Bahamas since 2003. Your comfort and safety are his chief concerns. His first mate Lucky is mostly interested in snacks... but he is a handsome dog!

I've chartered sail boats for multiple weeks and single days in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean so I know what I'm looking for and have a pretty high standard. Bob and Eleuthera Sailing Adventures 100% delivered. Bob was quickly responsive over email and knew how to address my group's particular questions/needs (bringing four young kids 9,6,3,1 year-olds). He was on time at the Valentine's Marina dock, didn't mind dinghy-ing a sleeping baby in a stroller, (kid slept through transfer into the cockpit!), and was great with all the kids and the adults. Got two great sails in, swam off the boat, and had a couple of hours to snorkel (he had really great, clean equipment for all sizes) at a near empty beach on Man Island. He kept our beers cold, provided much needed backup sunscreen, and kept the day moving well while being very attentive to everyone's wants and needs. Book a trip with Captain Bob - you will not regret it; we hope to again next year!

I first contacted Bob Knaus months before the trip and through several emails we were able to set up the perfect trip for us. Even left the exact date open to allow for weather changes once we were on island. Our goal: To sail my dads ashes into the sunset as he requested. Bob was so easy to work with! Picked us up off the beach at Whale Point (a turtle sanctuary) on time despite having had a fire in one of his solar panels earlier that day. Quickly hauled anchor and set sail. We cruised for an hour or so, snacked on treats we brought, though he had some chips and cold sodas on board as well. We were welcome to drink our rum and beers though he does not when sailing. He answered all our local questions and is great company to hang with. As the sun dipped in the sky, we came about and with sunlight sparkles on the water we set dad to rest after sharing photos and a rum toast. A perfect sail!

I was very honored to help a fellow sailor return to the sea, and to hear the stories of his adventures. A toast to life!

We had a group of 14 take a trip with Captain Bob in Early April 2019. There was plenty of room for everyone and the day was full of sun and fun. Bob tailors the trip around your group and what they want... we wanted to sail and snorkel. The area we snorkeled in was very beautiful and we were able to see a tremendous variety of fish as well as sea turtles. Bob gave great directions on where to meet and was there waiting for us. His communication is excellent and we were fortunate enough to meet Lucky his dog. You are in safe hands with Bob.

Captain Bob Knause helms the 44 foot Eventide. He provides a pleasant day’s sail. We went to Man Isle a beautiful deserted stretch with white sand beaches on the bay side and rough rocks, surf and sea glass on the ocean side. Bob provides snacks and drinks - we brought a lunch. There is ok snorkeling, a decent island hike (takes about 15 minutes) and a shady patch on beach to sit and watch the world float by. He knows the local history and island stories. For instance he explained how Bahamian citizenship is almost impossible to get. That the local constitution prohibits birthright citizenship and how there is a large Haitian immigrant population that lives here and has children here. Those children are essentially nationless. Not beneficiaries of Bahamian citizenship and no longer Haitian - in language, culture or legal standing. Refugees of the Caribbean. Bob is a Florida native who lives in the Bahamas full time. His boat is comfortable and requires you to do nothing but sit and enjoy. This was a five star experience in my book

We chartered for a day with the family - 10 of us, including kids age 5 to10. We had a fantastic day with a captain who knew the local water and obviously loved to sail. He was great with the kids, letting them crew. I have recommended him multiple times.
