Well known to locals but if your journey takes you through here, it is well worth the £3 parking charge to stretch your legs and have a drink/snack. The once glorious house built from the original abbey is now sadly in ruins but you can get a good idea of how dramatic it must have been. Very pleasant walk around... More

Thanks very much for your review. It's always great to hear visitor feedback. Happily, winter is now on its way out, and Spring is on its way to our grounds and gardens (daffodils are out and the glorious bluebells will be next up - in about 3 weeks time.) Thanks for your advice about feeding the ducks. We have proper... More

Lack lustre and gardens unkempt. Probably best visited in summer months when (hopefully) the gardens would be in full bloom. It was a shame there was no winter colour. Easy walk both round the large pond & woodland. Some good photo opportunities too with the use of the old Abbey.

Daffodils are out down the main drive now and the woods will be full of bluebells in April / May depending on the weather. Our grounds are managed as a country park so we keep many areas informal for wildlife and nature (the Abbey Meadow is a "Blue Butterfly" scheme meadow for example. But if your preference is for more... More

Nice gardens and wooded walks, nice for family and kids, was just very disappointed that I couldn't leg my dog off the lead.

Visited Rufford Park with my 4 year old son, was quite surprised how nice it was! Had a walk round the lake watching the wildlife. Stayed for about 2 hours, free entry but you have to pay £3 to park. The abbey wasn't open when we visited so we will definitely return in the summer months, when i'm sure it'll... More

We've been coming to rufford country park for years now, lovely place for a walk with the kids and family. Great outdoor play area for the young ones or you can take a nice stroll round the waters edge and get a coffee from the cafe in the court yard while watching the cars go through the Ford at the... Car Park charging dates depend on the time of year. Traditionally, during the 'low season' between Christmas and Easter we have charged for parking at weekends and school half terms only, reflecting the fact that these are the colder and quieter months. More

The park is small but with highly varied woodland scenery and walks. The abbey is well restored with an excellent path system. The walk around the pond being particularly attractive. The stately home is essentially gone, but enough remains and has been restored to a good standard. The Saville Restaurant in the ancient kitchen is particularly good for roast meals... More

I hadn't visited Rufford for a very long time and was pleasantly surprised to see a lovely walk through the park and around the lake. Continued restoration of the Abbey is good to see. The restaurant facility is excellent as is the food served there. Car parking is not always free which I think depends on the time of year.... More

Glad you enjoyed your visit! Spring is definitely on its way, so hope you'll visit again soon. Some nice new features coming this season. For example, we're busy getting ready for the new Courtyard Deli (opening end March) which will feature local foods - bacon, sausages, chutney, jam, coffee, biscuits and more. More
