One of the most impressive 17th c. monasteries in Greece
Oct 2020 • Family
One of the most impressive 17th c. monasteries in Greece. The landscape is picturesque and the architecture of the monastery is scenic, actually this monument is notable for its unique artistic combination of the Byzantine tradition with the Italian mannerism.

Impressive Monastery
Nov 2019
There are several monasteries in Crete (we visited 5 of them) and while this isn't the most majestic, it is still worth the stop. Each monastery has it's own charm and history that helps one to understand the historical value of such a place. History is our "thing" so we enjoyed the visit.

Enjoyed the Stop
Oct 2019 • Couples
We were on our way to Aptera, but thought we'd stop to visit this monastery and maybe even sample the wine. My husband had never been inside a Greek Orthodox church so he learned a lot wandering the lovely grounds of this monastery. I stood over 10 minutes though to sample the wine while the woman was prepared for a tour group and made me wait rather than give me a sip. I stood there out of principal so it put a bit of a damper on our experience.

Worth a visit
Nov 2019 • Friends
One of the larger, once very wealthy monasteries in Crete. Pleasant grounds with great views across the surrounding area. Can also visit the cellar to sample olive oils, wine & raki free of charge.

Worth a detour
Nov 2019
It's not the most central f places, but from Chania a short trip with nice views of the bay as well. The monastery is impressive, well enough preserved, interesting complex of buildings and they found their way into this century with a commercial wine tasting venue and shop, which makes sense.

When in Chania on the Akrotiri Peninsula visit Agia Triada, Gouverneto Monastery and Katholic Monastery ruins
Oct 2019
There are several Monasteries close to each other on the Akrotiri Peninsul. The first one we found was the Agia Triada, Holy Trinity Monastery. The beautiful beach Seitan Limania is a few km away as well. Open from sunrise to sunset. It's 2 Euros to get in, kids under 12 are free.

There are a lot of cats roaming around. It is very picturesque with old buildings and some green plants growing. There is a small, beautiful church there. There is a museum with antiques and wine and oil for sale outside. There is a WC here. Tour buses come here.

Perfect peace

This site is well with a visit if you are in the Chania area. Wonderfully peaceful, lots of interesting corners to photograph and cats wandering around. Nice place away from the hustle and bustle

Peaceful
Sep 2019 • Couples
Located in a quiet and peaceful area near Chania, Agia Triada Monastery is definitely one of the most beautiful sights you can visit on the island.
It's a nice way to spend a quiet time, admiring the magnificient architecture or simply reading a book in the courtyard.

A Must-See in Chania
Sep 2019
We had a local guide showing us around Chania and this turned out to be our favorite stop. Very picturesque and tranquil. We visited on a Sunday morning during service which really enhanced the experience (and I am not religious). Our guide said it was fine to stand in the door and watch the service for a bit and they also "broadcast" the service out into the courtyard. You need to stop here if you are in Chania, especially of you are a photography buff.
