Fantastic place, fantastic wines, perhaps a bit of training

An idyllic setting, especially in 30 degree glorious sunshine. We'd been here once before, in 2013, and were keen to return. Sitting outside looking across to the vineyards and... read more

Cloudy Bay lost its soul. This place is overly commercial and doesn't breathe any passion for wine making. Furthermore, their wines are way too expensive. You pay the price for their being part of LVMH. There are so many privately/family owned vineyards in within 1km, just skip this one.

I visited the winery some time ago but as I shared a bottle of Cloudy Bay with friends recently, I told them about my visit and thought I should also post it here. I visited end of December and the weather was glorious, the cellar is right in the middle of the winery in a bright open space where you... More

My wife and I visited the Cloudy Bay cellar door as part of a day of touring the area's vineyards. Being from the UK we are familiar with the label and (did) enjoy it fairly frequently back home - and looked forward to our visit here. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below expectations, for several reasons: 1. Out of seven... More

An idyllic setting, especially in 30 degree glorious sunshine. We'd been here once before, in 2013, and were keen to return. Sitting outside looking across to the vineyards and the hills beyond, yes life is pretty good. We went for the Pinot Immersion tasting, featuring the standard Pinot Noir, the Mustang (only available at the winery) and their new Te... More

We went for the "Indulgence" tasting experience where we compared recent Sauvignon Blanc wine (2016) to matured wine (2005). Similar tasting for Pinot Noir. The matured wimes are not for sale and are only kept for customers of the wine tastings. There is a huge difference. The matured wines lose the unique fruity smell of fresh Sauvignon Blanc but are... I have visited dozens of wineries in several countries, but this has to be one of the worst. I have enjoyed their wines before, which is why we went, but was so put-off by the arrangements, that we turned around and left and visited a couple of others instead. They wanted to charge a minimum of $10 for a tasting... More

We have always put Cloudy Bay sav blanc at the top of our list. So visiting the estate was a treat. It did not disappoint. Its a great venue for a wine tasting and the presenters are very knowledgeable. If you love sav blanc then I'd recommend a visit.

We can here with high expectations and have wanted to visit the home of our favourite wine for at least 15 years , and we were not disappointed. In fact it exceeded our expectations ! The tasting experience was extremely well done and we could have spend all day there. The staff are incredibly knowledgable and have a passion for their... More

We went for a bottle of the Oaked Sav over tasting as it was 25 each for the premium tasting! Really don't understand why wineries charge for tastings when the vast majority don't have to. The wine was really nice not the classic malb Sav which was great and the setting is beautiful.

I loved the drive up to Cloudy bay, amazing building and entrance to the tasting area. There was one other person in when we arrived and no one asked us to help until we approached the counter to find out about the wines. Then a lovely lady started talking thru the wines. Very interesting and friendly. Would come back again... More
