“Kingdom of the Templars”
Sep 2020 • Family
The first Castle in Tarragona, Catalonia by 11th Century. Very interesting historical medieval castle. Appropriate by the whole family. Wholesome panoramic view of the Ebro River( Río Ebro). Affordable entrance fee and convenient souvenir store.

Templar castle

It's a nice visit but you must avoid the central hours of the day. Too hot and not so much shadows to get fresh air.

A visit to this castle will impress you, for it's historic value and beautiful views. Take the boat to get you on the other side of the river.

Beatiful even if you are not into history
Sep 2019
20 minutes walk up on hill through the old village will get you up to one of the last stands of the Templars. This castle has so much history and it comes with a bonus - the view from the towers, amazing view of the river and the surroundings.
The entrance fee is a little on the pricey side.

I added this up on my planner not only for the castle but for the beauty of this small village. I also scheduled the visit early morning to beat up the crowds. Give it a go!

Just great!
Aug 2019
Allow yourself at least two hours for a proper visit. From the top of the castle there you can enjoy breathtaking views on the Ebro and on the entire region. If it is not raining you will be really happy visiting this castle.

A great day out from Casita de Covetes. We really enjoyed the ferry crossing and the old town with the ceramics workshops

Wonderful, solid Templar castle that dominates the landscape
Jul 2019 • Couples
Sitting high on a rocky outcrop on a bend in the Ebro, Miravet Castle dominates the landscape. Fascinating history with the castle being built by the Templars on the site of a former moorish castle and having been involved in conflict right up to the Spanish civil war.

The castle sits high above the village and is well worth either a vigorous walk up (not much shade in the hot summer) or drive to the free car park next to the castle.

5 euros for an adult with concessions for students, pensioners etc is good value for the experience of visiting this amazing castle, with the most incredible views from the walls, but especially from the roof terrace, accessed via a tight and narrow spiral staircase from the church.

Views over the valley, the river and the surrounding hills and mountains are stunning.

Nice views
Jun 2019 • Friends
This is a nice viewpoint and it is very interesting. The spiral staircase is an experience. It is very tight especially if you are on the larger size. The biggest problem is that the steps are two way.
