The Rowlinson family have lived at Abbeywood since 1987, during which time they have made many improvements and additions to the gardens. The year starts in February with many varieties of Galanthus in Jane's Garden, followed by other Spring favourites, Erythroniums and Trilliums, to name but a few of her rare plants. The Main Garden is divided into separate areas. The formal layout gives way to naturalistic planting within. Early May starts with Tulips followed by Alliums and Camassia. Seasonal interest continues until around mid September - weather depending. The Christopher Lloyd inspired Exotic Garden, designed around the remnants of the old vegetable garden, is filled with Dahlias, Cannas, Banana and other tender perennials. These continue until the first frosts. The Young Arboretum is planted with rare evergreen and deciduous trees for year round interest. A 2km, wildlife walk incorporates the existing and new woodland on the 45 acre grounds.

An extensive well-maintained garden with attractive planting and a very thoughtful design and lots to see, even in out-of-season April. Entrance fee(£4.50-£5) good value. Horses in the paddock and lots of birds to watch. The restaurant/café is excellent and seems to attract locals and regulars. The food is good. A wedding venue, check first at weekends that it is open.

We have been here a few times to the restaurant which is also great but did the gardens last year. Beautiful on a summers day as the plants and flowers bloom. A real credit to the people who work so hard to keep something going throughout the year. Well worth a visit

Great surroundings and beautiful gardens. Lovely if you want a better experience away from the usual pub grub on a Sunday, best roast dinner in the area! it's now the second time we've visited and wont be the last.

Had an enjoyable visit here today as I met a friend for lunch. It's a lovely place for lunch and spend a couple of hours, even though it was wet outside it was warm and welcoming inside. The service was spot on very friendly, and the food was lovely. Lovely coffee and delicious homemade scones. It's not cheap just about... More

My friend and I came for a lunch today, it was a wet and miserable day and as we walked in we were greeted by Caleb, who was cheerful and friendly. He showed us to our seats and brought us menus. Dot too our order who was also fantastic and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, I can highly recommend... More

Visited with my mum for Afternoon Tea, friends had bought me a voucher for a birthday present. Staff were very welcoming, food was lovely, a very nice young gentleman looked after us at our table. Couldn't fault any of it, we sat in the conservatory which was lovely and warm. All in all a great experience. We will definately return!

Abbeywood is a very warm and friendly stop for our weekly bike ride. Carol and Becky are always there to welcome us with a Fantastic selection of home made cakes and delicious coffee. However today I had a puncture on my bike and the lovely Gavin (one of the gardeners) came to my rescue. With in minutes he had replaced... More
