... there’s a lot of it missing so you need to use imagination quite a bit. English Heritage look after the monument really well with secure walkways and steps - I always really like the lovely wooden steps and walkways they put in place. As...More

Unfortunately we hadn't allowed ourselves enough time to see this properly. Most of the castle is in ruins but there's still a couple of the towers you can get in. The old graffiti in there is fascinating. We found the gentleman running the ticket office...More

What a lovely couple of hours was spent here. Grandparents, parents and a three year old dressed with a crow N and a sword looking for dragons. Something for each generation. Lots of places to play hide and seek and have fantasy games. Really great...More

Fascinating place with lots to see. Particularly liked that a telescope had been set up to enable visitors to view the raptor's nest and chicks in part of the battlements.

As you walk up the hill to the castle you don't get the impression there's a lot up there. Once you get inside it opens up and there are two wall rings with associated ditches and buildings. Plenty to wander around.

Yes, you can go round in a wheelchair, but there are some restrictions, and dogs are allowed if kept on a lead.

I have visited Pickering Castle many times, and have seen people with their dogs on the castle grounds, and always on a lead. So I am certain that it is allowed.
