About
Deanston Distillery is located 8 miles north of Stirling on the A84 near Doune, at the gateway to the dramatic Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. No ordinary 'run of the mill' whisky tour, we are just 45 minutes from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Visit us and experience our traditional open mash tun, gleaming copper stills and our maturation warehouse 2b. During your visit taste our distinctive single malt whisky which is fruity with a malty spiciness on the palate. Our distillery cafe, The Coffee Bothy is the ideal place to sit back and enjoy a leisurely lunch or coffee and cake. Either 'pre-tour' or 'apres-tour' make time to visit The Coffee Bothy where all our food is freshly prepared and handmade in the distillery kitchen. Our friendly and knowledgable team look forward to welcoming you to Deanston Distillery. - Free Parking - Disabled Access - Distillery Shop - Distillery CafeAdditional Information:Set in the heart of Scotland, Deanston Distillery is an ideal starting point to take in the best of what Scotland has to offer. Having visited our whisky distillery other Scottish icons nearby include castles, lochs, glens and wild animals! Doune Castle, backdrop to the Monty Python film 'Knights of the Holy Grail' is 20 minutes walking distance, Stirling Castle the favoured residence of Scotland's Kings and Queens only 8 miles away. Loch Katrine surrounded by beautiful scenery is 30 minutes by car and the Blair Drummond Safari Park just down the road. Combined with the local villages of Doune, Callander, Dunblane and the City of Stirling there is much to see and do.

Did the Warehouse 4 tour at Deanston. Had an absolutely cracking time. Brian the tour guide - as all staff I have experienced - was very knowledgeable and good fun. An afternoon we'll spend with interesting drams and great company.

Erin looked after us so well. She sold us loads of whisky, giving us just the right amount of free testers to not cost you money. What a day to be alive.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience
Jul 2021 • Couples
Travelled to distillery and went to the shop. The shop is well stocked with plenty of goods and an excellent selection of whiskies as well as some gins. Brian in the shop was very helpful and knowledgeable, he took time to explain the differences in some of the whiskies and offered us the chance to taste different whiskies. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and would highly recommend a visit.

Warehouse 4 Tasting with Brian
Jun 2021
Saturday afternoon warehouse 4 tasting. Tasted 3 excellent whiskies and Brian explained each one and the differences. Good bit of banter with Brian and the other 2 guests on the tasting. After the tasting went to the shop and got a taste of a couple of their other ranges. Ended up buying a bottle of the 18yr old and a bottle from one I tasted in the warehouse. Felt very Covid safe and would recommend.

Great tasting with Brian
May 2021 • Friends
After going via covid protocols we were shown by Brian to the tasting room. It was very personalised as we were the only visitors for this time slot. Our guide was very down to earth, friendly and knowledgable about the Distillery and its produce. 18 years old whisky hit home so we got £80 bottle. Brian also assisted us in the shop and advised about other products like glasses. It was genuine and not tourist factory feel. They do whisky which is not smoked, which is what we prefer. The tasting is 3 whiskies for £15 and what you don’t finish you can take home in the little bottles. Day before we have visited another distilery which was PowerPoint presentation and whisky was not that good so we have appreciated the difference.

Very well run distillery and the guides very imformative and helpful. Tour well worth it and the tasting at the end of the tour, a must. You need a non alcoholic nominated driver for legal reasons. Great visit.

Changes in Covid regulations meant our pre booked tour and tasting could not go ahead. Unfortunately the email cancelling the visit went astray and we turned up at the Distillery on a cold, wet Monday! However, the welcome we received was warm and sympathetic. Passing the temperature test we were allowed into the shop to make a purchase. Additionally to compensate for not being able to tour the facilities and experience the tastings we were given an excellent selection to take home - tailored to our choice notwithstanding cost. The attention to customer service was outstanding and should be commended in turning what could have been an awkward situation into a very congenial one. Well done and thank you for the parting words of "stay safe and come and see us again".

Thank you Kipellen! I will check the Deanston website. Also, how do you get from Edinburgh to Ian's Highland Chocolates?

Hello, I was wondering where and how I can book the Deanston Distillery tour? We are going to visit Edinburgh between 7/17-7/20 and would like to visit the Deanston Distillery. We will stay in Edinburgh during the visit. Thank you.

The website will help with booking. We actually walked to Deanston from downtown Doune and it was an easy 20 minute walk.
Be sure to try the whiskey and chocolate tasting. Although the combination sounds strange, the chocolates were divine and worked well with the flavors of the different whiskeys. In fact, if you have time, a visit to Ian's Highland Chocolates would be an amazing side trip!

are you accessible as would like to visit but have a wheelchair

Deanston
Hi there,
Many thanks for your enquiry regarding the distillery being wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately due to the historic nature of our building not all areas of the distillery are mobility friendly, we are unable to gain access to the production areas.
There are mobility parking spaces at the front of the distillery visitor centre and access to the visitor centre, café and the distillery tasting room are mobility friendly. We are able to conduct tastings and show our short movie of the distillery, it's heritage and distilling methods within the visitor centre.
Our telephone number is 01786 843 010. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further information, we look forward to hopefully welcoming you to the distillery.
Kind regards
Peter
