In a spectacular pterosaur shaped building watching over Sandown’s blue flag beach is Britain’s first purpose built dinosaur museum. Walk back through fossilised time to the period of the dinosaurs where you will find amongst the fossils many interactive displays. On a recreated landscape enhanced by sights, smells and sounds you will meet life sized dinosaurs including our animatronic Neovenator. Guided fossil hunts (which must be pre-booked) have proved to be a popular addition to a visit.

We have been many times on our own and with the Grandchildren. They absolutely love it. Not only is there interactive parts to it but upstairs there is an area for the children to dress up as dinosaurs and tables for colouring etc. Loads of fun for them.

Think the whole reason we ended up going was course my children wanted to see dinosaurs - they seem to enjoy it and doing all the little activities. We spent about a hour & half inside & children loved exploring the gift shop.

This was more my partners cup of tea than mine - I think kids would enjoy it a lot - aimed at them for sure. Very interactive and full of information - very reasonably priced. No café there and you do have to pay for parking.

Enjoyed visit here as part of parent's 80th birthday activities on the island. We had the whole place to ourselves and it is really fascinating. The displays are so interesting and so well put together. Having all the links to IOW makes it even better. Hands on experiences fun and lots of activities for children. The big hall with the... We spent a very enjoyable couple of hours here. There are trails for different aged kids to enjoy. Lots of facts about dinosaurs, plenty to see and do. Friendly staff. Parking was free but think this is only because it was out if season. We did see some people walk round quickly and leave and can only assume they had... More

I came here during off season and I enjoyed it. The fossils upstairs were interesting and I liked the shop & big exhibition area downstairs. It's too small to travel a long distance just to see this but it's definitely worth a visit if you're local (or you plan to visit the zoo also which is right next to it).

We have been visiting Dinosaur Isle since our little boy could walk. He is a Dinosaur fan and plans to be a palaeontologist (he is only 6 now!) It can be a tad cold, but there is plenty to keep one entertained for a few hours maximum. The staff are keen to help and enthusiastic about what they do. The... More

Yet another place I have in the past avoided probably through lack of general understanding. Well not any more, this has been rectified and we visited during half term. if you don't like dinosaurs then I would suggest this is not the place for you, if however you do like this kind of thing then it is a very interesting...
