little castle

The last time I came to this fort it was overgrown and neglected now re-storded with a walkway around the inside well worth a visit for the great views across to Portland

We live locally to Sandsfoot Castle and visit regularly. The Castle ruins are impressive and offer excellent views to Portland and out to sea. There are small gardens and some seating available that can be lovely in warm weather for a picnic. a short walk away is Sandsfoot Beach which is usually a little quieter than Weymouth Beach and Dogs... We always try to detour off the Rodwell Trail to either walk around the gardens and/or grab a coffee and snack

Great , shame it's not opened a bit more through season and kids drinks bit cheaper , as the icecream more would be sold . Lovely garden and lovely views.

Set on the coast with gorgeous views over the sea. Safe walkways all around so that you can easily view the inside. Lovely garden. Not a lot of the castle left but if in the area well worth viewing.

This is a lovely little cafe in the gardens with exquisite views - the only downfall is its very dependent on the weather. However they have a Facebook page which lets you know whether they are open. There cream teas and bacon butties are to die for. A truly relaxing spot that eases any stresses you may have!! The gardens... More

Visited Sandsfoot castle in August with the in-laws. Its a stunning place with beautiful grounds to walk through, and of course the Sandsfoot castle with its history and stunning views. There is a tea shop within the grounds to stop off at if you wish to do so.

Sandsfoot Castle is just one of those amazing little spots in Dorset that if you are near by and looking for somewhere to go for a picnic is worth a look. Great views and lots of grass to chill it's perfect for those sunny days!

A lovely place to stop whilst walking the Rodwell trail, the gardens are very well kept and the castle a hidden gem of history. Combine this with amazing views of Portland harbour and the Chesil with the bonus of a remarkable little hatch cafe that churns out lovely tea/coffee and lunch time snacks, I dare you not to be diverted...
