Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We popped into the tourist information in Appleby, and we were greeted by a lovely helpful lady. She was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of useful information about places to visit. First class service.

Great helpful team who are very informative about the local area and truly make you feel welcome. There is a great selection of gifts and other items available to purchase too. Highly recommend if you need info about the local area.

Got some really good advice on where to go and what to do!
- visited a couple of cafes over our weekend stay the first was the Hub Cafe which was in what looked like an old church - the food was gorgeous and the staff were so friendly!!
2nd The Eden River Cafe who's breakfasts were delicious

We also walked around and visited the local shops all of which were lovely apart from one I highly recommend you avoid it at all cost! My wife has severe asthma and is unable to wear a mask due to breathing difficulties we tried to go into a shop right next to the TIC that sold a bit of everything from toys to cleaning products- my wife had spotted artificial flowers through the door and we went in to browse an older woman in glasses and one with a weird ponytail practically shouted at us to ' leave the shop or wear a mask' I explained that my wife was exempt but no still not allowed in my wife was shaking at this point so we just left! But I was disgusted!! Such a horrible black mark on our trip to such a beautiful town!!

They were so friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome to the town and region. We met the Major who allowed us a peep at the 11th Century Moot Hall - fans of Harry Potter will spot the reference. Worth a stay

Very helpful staff at the Information Centre. We visited the castle and had a very interesting guide but we only visited one room in the castle where we were given a real history lesson! In view of the weather,we did not walk around the grounds, and felt that the cost of £11 was rather excessive. We really enjoyed visiting the town, not seen before.a
