It wasn't until this visit that I realised the significance of the brass panels. I hadn't realised that some are "ancient & modern" - portraying soldiers from different generations. A fascinating memorial.

Originally a simple village cross, this has been transformed into a very intricate memorial. It is well worth seeing and is just one of the lovely things to enjoy in this tranquil and charming Wolds village.

This is worth a quick look if you're passing. It's a village cross (but way more ornate than your average village cross), converted into a war memorial in 1919 (thank you wikipedia)

This monument stands by a cross-roads, where there is ample car-parking. It is very tall, slender monument and commemorates the fallen from Sledmere in wars, primarily the First World War.It is very attractive photographically.
