Bude Sea Pool is a part-natural, partially man-made tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s under the cliffs of Summerleaze Beach to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous Atlantic currents in the bay. Measuring around 91m by 45m, it is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2012 it is managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a not-for-profit charity that took over the facility when public funding was withdrawn. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels, surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome - just be considerate of other users, please. Bude Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Lifeguards are on duty at peak times. Children must be accompanied at Bude Sea Pool at all times.

Walking past and looking down at the sea pool we were amazed by the number of swimmers. The water looked clean and safe and above the pool is a life guard hut. Around the pool are beach huts to rent. The greatest thing about this pool is that it is free and maintained by local people who wish to preserve... More

We go a lot, after school, weekends and holidays. Always clean and a great asset to Bude. Can go for a quick dip or spend the whole day. Depends on donations so it not a member please don't forget to leave them a little something.

The bude sea pool is really cool, swam in it yesterday absolutely freezing , colder than the sea. Fun though! good for young kids to play in and not get battered by the waves. Although I am six foot and can't stand up in most of it / some hard and sloppy rocks in their though too so quite dangerous... More

Enid Blyton must have had this in mind. To swim in sea water without waves is the most exhilarating experience . No need to worry about skill or stroke. It's just so big anything goes and a shallow bit too. Never will go to a public baths again!

Although we didn't brave the swimming pool we did walk round it and took in a bit of history. However there us no doubting how this is such a wonderful infinity pool. Well worth a visit.

It was very good last year and is supported by local people after the council were not able to fund it anymore. A really important amenity for Bude and visitors appreciate it. A rare jewel in the area.
