Segways in Fermanagh Lakelands, Northern Ireland

Travelers with limited time in the area can explore more of Fermanagh Lakelands than they could on foot during this half-day, small-group Segway excursion. Enjoy the local insight of your guide which few travelers get to enjoy, look out for local wildlife, and pass by castles and stately homes that you might otherwise have overlooked.

I live close to this and it is incredible however I do wish those visiting would treat the area with respect, no one needs rubbish least of all the wildlife or local livestock which are others people's living.

October is certainly our family climbing month, we have completed Slieve Donard, Divis and Black Mountain and McArthur’s Fort/Cavehill. So today we tackled Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail and the Stairway to Heaven.....no, not the Led Zeppelin song however I did a wee rendition at the top!!! After a two hour drive we arrived at the car park and paid the £5 car parking fee before going to the top car park. Round trip from here is 8 km. The weather was overcast and windy, but dry!! My two girls and I were geared up in hat, scarf, gloves, warm walking gear and back pack full of water and food. The ascent was fairly good along a path consisting of rubble and wooden boardwalk. The scenery and views were spectacular. We then reached the Stairway itself and the ascent steepened. There were over 500 steps, so not for the faint hearted!! It took us 1 hour 40 to reach the top with lots of stops and coaxing the 8 year old!! It was so worth it and my camera still had battery so some nice clicks!! Coming back down was much easier and quicker , 1 hour 10. So all in all some very happy girls and a proud dad!!

Plan on a good weather day and arrive early. Pay your £5 and drive on to the second car park, this will save you 1.4 miles! The first half of the walk in on a gravel path and then the board walk itself. The last short distance, but the steepest part was up the stairs to the lookout, aptly named ‘The stairway to Heaven’ - once or twice I thought I was maybe getting there sooner than I hoped lol The view point is a bit disappointing but nevertheless the views are good and the 3 mile walk downhill to the car even better.

Finally, got to complete this walk. It was quite a distance to the actual board walk but pleasant walk. Toilets would be a good addition to this attraction considering it takes hours to complete the walk. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend
