Attended this venue on Saturday 24th October and must say it was a delight considering present Covid conditions. In one way it was sad that a venue which would usually hold 1600 could only facilitate 300 but in another way it was an intimate event. Congratulations to the Sage staff for managing the evening and I hope more people support the sage and the Arts with donations so more events can be staged

Afternoon tea
Mar 2020
Treat from a friend to celebrate my birthday, lovely afternoon tea with lashings of hot tea and free Prosecco too. Our server was lovely, attentive but not obtrusive and he took a lovely picture of us to remember our experience.

Afternoon tea for two
Mar 2020 • Friends
I was pleased this deal was bought from Living Social at half price. The afternoon tea was not even worth paying half price for. Very disappointing given the venue. Bread was starting to go hard on sandwiches, very small cakes and the scone was small. One portion of clotted cream and one small glass jar of jam to share between two. Service was very poor, my friend asked for a refill on her coffee and the same cup that she had just finished was taken away from the table and refilled. The highlight was seeing the knife angel!

Amazing acoustics
Feb 2020
I attended the Beethoven Weekend on 22 and 23 February. I was a bit late off the mark and had to purchase individual tickets which meant I was seated in 5 different locations in the main concert hall. No matter where I sat I could hear everything clearly but I could hear things I was able to hear detail with greater clarity than in most other venues. One of the conductors opined that the main hall has the best acoustics in the UK..

The seats were quite comfortable and all afforded a good view of the stage. Up on level 3 the rows were sufficiently well spaced so that even a large or big haired person sitting in front would not obscure one's view. The temperature was well regulated and it was not unduly hot sitting so high up.

In the foyer there was perhaps a bit of a deficit of seating but otherwise everything seemed to function efficiently.

Altogether a good place to visit and a great concert hall.

The Slug
Feb 2020 • Couples
We visited this new building affectionately called the slug by local folk.
A rather unusual architectural design and worthy of a visit.

Knife Angel
Feb 2020 • Family
We visited the Sage purposely to view the touring Knife Angel, a memorial to those who have been lost due to knife crime. The structure is poignant and a stark reminder of the level of weapons on our streets, all the blades were collected across UK police forces. We sat and reflected upon the display over a coffee, nice environment to do so!
