We joined the national trust as this is local to us and along with visiting other places we can visit this wonderful place regularly, there is plenty to see and do for people of all ages and to support such great work to maintain and improve places like gibside is also a bonus!

The land is very peaceful and well kept. You can't hear any traffic. Fantastic views and walks. Lovely places for coffee and cake. Toilets are always clean.

A wonderful national heritage place and only a short distance from Newcastle city centre and the metro centre. walk round the country estate and visit the beautiful Gibside chapel. If you have children theres the strawberry castle play park.... although it will take some convincing to get them to leave with climbing frames, dens, Sandpit (winter) water feature (summer), swings,... This is near enough to the city to be able to visit for the morning or afternoon, or indeed there is enough to do to go for the whole day. There's lots of walks, and away from the café area the place is quiet and can absorb a lot of people, so it doesn't seem crowded. Children enjoy the wide... More

Situated just a few miles from our home, the Gibside estate is proof that you should always try to appreciate what you have locally. The estate is undergoing major changes to help improve its offer but it is a fantastic place to just walk our dog, on a lead, whilst enjoying the incredible history that formed this estate. There are... More

Visited Gibside many times and it never lets us down all year long. It is an ideal place for both adults and children to visit with a super play area fo children and beautiful walks for all. We attended a free guided walk last spring and the guide was a wealth of information.

Gibside covers a very large area so you can spend as long as you wish choosing the different trails to follow. We went to the chapel, enjoyed a few hilarious minutes on the low ropes activity course (at 61 I did better than my 12 year old Grandaughter!) and chose a shorter route past the lovely children's play area. It... More

Lots of nice green open space and walks. Very impressive chapel. Original walked garden has changed over the years & now no longer used as the car park. More suited to those who are active as tasks hours if one were to walk around the whole estate in a single visit. Worth return visits, especially for anyone who is local.

As a family we love Gibside, we are there nearly every day over half term and summer holidays, the kids love it! We take a picnic and the kids are safe in the play area, the additions such as the water and sand area is brilliant when the weather is hot. We have fantastic walks around the site and we... More
