What a locally themed museum should be!
Sep 2021
Free to enter, this museum has a wide range of exhibits reflecting the history, geology, archaeology and industries of Charnwood and surrounding areas.[1] Permanent displays include ‘Coming to Charnwood’, ‘The Natural World of Charnwood’, ‘Living off the Land’ and ‘Earning a Living’. I enjoyed the Victorian grocers shop and the change to look though the microscope to view something very small indeed! It is of course set within the grounds of an outstanding park, which you also can enjoy.

This museum is very gd. If u are visiting Leicestershire or even if u live around the city if u haven’t been here yet u should go. Has great history and u will learn stuff u didn’t know . It maybe small in there but if u take ya time looking around u will enjoy it . Also there a cafe in the park and the town is just over the road . I do Recommend this place been many times with family and support workers I have to say it’s just a lovely museum

Really great museum for children
Feb 2020
Lots of thought put into making this exciting for children. Loved the trails around the museum which add interest. Nice toilets and friendly staff. Lovely that it's free although nice to be able to make a donation.

Good free place to visit with young children
Aug 2019 • Family
A little gem in the middle of Loughborough, perfect if you have 30 mins to an hour to spare. Interesting following the history of Loughborough for older ones and good hands on interesting things for younger children including a skeleton of the Barrow Kipper, a dinosaur found in Barrow upon Soar. It is situated alongside Queens park, a beautiful and well kept park with a very popular play area, so good to combine the two.

A very interesting museum well worth a visit
Sep 2019
Situated in Queen's Park, Loughborough is the very interesting Charnwood Museum. There are a wide range of exhibits in the museum which reflect the geology, archaeology, history and industries of Charnwood (a local government district in the north of Leicestershire named after the Charnwood Forest, which is in the borough) and surrounding areas. The exhibits include computers, interactive displays and audio-visuals and range from rocks from Charnwood's volcanic past to a Victorian grocers shop. There is even Charnwood's own dinosaur "The Barrow Kipper". When we visited the museum there was a special display on Ladybird Books, which were printed in Loughborough from 1873 until 1999.

Small and friendly worth a visit
Sep 2019
This museum celebrates the town and the areas rural history and has a surprising number of exhibits with lots to keep children of all ages interested, even the adult ones! It’s within walking distance of the towns centre and market place and opposite the towns library. It has ramps for the disabled to use including small buggies and sits next to the lovely town park which in itself is well worth visiting. Best days are Thursday and Saturday as there is often something on in the town as well.
