Explore the sights and sounds of Africa and discover lions, giraffes, rhinos, meerkats, hunting dogs and many more animals from the African continent. The spectacular centrepiece of Africa Alive!, our "Plains of Africa" paddock, is the perfect place to spot 5 species of African savannah animals, including our graceful giraffe and heavyweight rhinos. Enjoy a bird's eye view of our magnificent lions from "Lookout Lodge", and visit "Lemur Encounters", which gives you the chance to get incredibly close to our ring-tailed lemurs as you walk through their enclosure! Bird lovers can also enjoy spotting native species from our new "Wader's Lake Boardwalk". Discover some amazing facts about our animals during our exciting feeding talks and seasonal Bird of Prey displays. Climb aboard the free Safari Roadtrain for an entertaining journey around the Park. Look, learn and play in our fun-packed Discovery Centre and meet some of our smaller residents at the animal encounter sessions. The park offers a great outdoor adventure play area, as well as restaurants, free car parking, disabled facilities and a gift shop where you can find souvenirs and gifts for everyone - including yourself! Open daily at 9.30am all year, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. For admission prices and closing times please check our website

Visited on a cold winters day, surprised to see all the animals were in fact out busy. Zoo is fairly small, and only took us just over an hour to get round. Great range of animals in well kept habitats. Seemed to be meerkats everywhere 😂 Only 4 stars due to price being quite high for an hours entertainment. Not... More

Hi, Lewis. Thank you for positing your review. Even on a cold winters day, its such a shame that you only spent an hour with us. There is no way you will have taken the opportunity to attend the feeding talks taking place throughout the day, the road train around the park or spend time in the Discovery centre. There... More

Visited with grandchildren 3 and 6, both enjoy the animals and having a picnic but still head for the indoor play area whenever possible. Great way to spend 3 or 4 hours summer or winter. Children also love the little train and the friendly driver

Well-signposted and easy to find. Easy car parking. Great for children in the sunshine. We went on a bright but bitter day in January and of course most of the animals are outside and so wrap up well! The animals are well-kept in tidy enclosures and there is clearly an army of staff and volunteers to look after them. You... More

Lovely place been a lot, I just wish they would take advantage of all the land they have and get some good animals. Food little pricey as is the gift shop but that's to be expected. Great Park for kids and a indoor soft play for little ones.

Hi, Paige. Thank you for posting your review following your visit to Africa Alive!. It is such a shame to hear that it is your view that we should, as an alternative to allowing each of the animals to have as much space as possible, that we should inhibit the environment they live in. This isn't our view thus the... More

Haven't been here for years. Came with my mum, who is a zoo member. It was a frosty sunny winters day, which obviously had a knock on effect as many animals were inside. We walked through the bird enclosure but they were in due to an avian bird flu outbreak, and round the owls. Then we caught the train, they... More

Hi, Nikki. Thank you for posting your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your day with us. For the benefit of other readers, how you have worded the review suggests we have been victim of 'an avian flu outbreak'. This is not the case at all. Nationally DEFRA have instructed all establishments which house birds to take steps to... More

Went today and was empty (less than 50 people in the whole park) and was lovely. Gorgeous animals, everything kept clean and lovely cafe. Santa visit was lovely as well and good value. Would definitely recommend.

What an amazing zoo - so glad I came across it. The enclosures are brilliant and really take into account the animals needs. The zoo is a nice size to walk around and everything is sign posted well and easy to find. The highlight of the day is definitely the Lion and Cheetah talks - this is not to be... More

This is one for the kids and Grand Parents. It wasn't my cup of tea at all. Worth doing once, but it's the same year after year. I've been 3 times with different family members kids over 6 years, they all soon got bored of the walking around and just wanted to play on climbing frames.

Hi, Fox. Thank you for posting your review. It is such a shame that you seem bored with seeing these fantastic animals, many of which are endangered. In the last year alone, we have invested over £150,000 on improvements to the park and, funds permitting, further improvements will follow. Please keep an eye on our website and social media for...
