From J Boy of Derby As others have said to venture into this pub is to step back in time when the village was the life and soul of the area. The beer is good, the food is basic (pies crisps) etc and the landlord is a friendly and helpful man whose knowledge of the area and Derbyshire as a... More

Had been here before and couldn't wait to come back. Ken, the landlord, is great, and was witty and entertaining to a large group of us visiting this weekend. Be polite and accept his welcome into what is effectively his home and front room, and accept the fact that this great pub is unashamedly rough around the edges, and shouldn't... More

The Quiet Woman is a pub apart from all others. If you want a trendy sham country pub look elsewhere because this is the real deal. Some may feel that it is uncompromising and so it is. No children or dogs are allowed in the bar. This is a small pub and can get very busy with large groups of... More

If you wish to go to an old time village pub then this is a real one, with a bark main bar, a games room and a basic outside area. A good selection of hand pumped beer, but not much to eat. If like me you are a beer drinker and Camra Member then you will love it. On the... More

This Marston's house is fastastically in keeping with the surroundings. The decor has a very rural feel, complete with open brick fireplace and tiled floor. Another point of interest includes the collection of Good Pub Guide stickers by the bar, dating back to 1977. Excellent beer, with at least two real ales and a third guest ale often on rotation.... If you want gastro food and posh wines its not for you. For me and my partner it was perfect. You have the complete experience of a traditional pub, a proper landlord, a few interesting locals who share their history (if you're nice). A welcoming roaring fire, good ale and steeped in history and quiet. Lovely fresh eggs for sale... More

Superb step back before pubs became plastic run by accountants. Visit and enjoy whilst you can. Great beers, snacks and a warm welcome. Not sure about food not interested and did not ask, was there for the beer, Pub sign is worth a picture just to wind-up your PC friends.

This pub was highly recommended by a friend who appreciates good beer, so on a recent trip to the area I thought I'd give it a look. It wasn't what I expected at all which was a large, thronging, popular pub with plenty of ales to choose from. It is, in fact a very small bar with separate a games... More

On first appearance the exterior looks like the pub has close down, it hasn't! Go inside and you're stepping back in time to a bygone age. There is food of the snack variety but it is limited.
