Beautiful park & gardens right in the centre of Buxton & next to the Opera House with lots of greenery, a large pond, cafe, art gallery (with good toilet facilities inside) and even a miniature railway (railway was shut when I visited built still nice to look at). Not to mention the park was decorated with dinosaurs and even themed for the Platinum Jubilee which made it more pleasant to look at. Definitely a place I would love to visit again and again when I go to Buxton (which on the whole is quite a beautiful small town).

Always pleasant to walk round the gardens , think the lakes could be better maintained from scum and smell.
Grandson loved the little train and the children's play areas are good to keep the littluns entertained.
We have the Jurassic Encounter on here at present so entertainment a plenty to do and if you can't afford in there are plenty of free Dinosaurs to see so caters for everyone.
Expensive if you choose to go in for what you get ...

The fine folk of Buxton are incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful public space available to them. We found the park to be well kept and very tidy, although someone had (somewhat carelessly) left their dinosaurs scattered about… *
There are some fantastic play facilities for children, and all of the equipment was in good condition. We did not get a chance to look in the pavilion, so are unable to comment on the facilities unfortunately.
* I believe the dinosaurs are there until the end of June 2022

These gardens in the centre of Buxton, are big enough for you to feel alone even when it is busy. There is a well kept lake to walk around, with plenty of places to sit, and watch the world go by.
There is a large children play area and plenty of places serving both drinks and food.

Enjoyed a lovely walk around these well kept gardens. Solid, wide paths makes it great for walking if less able. Also, stopped for a bacon & brie ciabatta at the well laid out café. Really enjoyable.

Well kept gardens with links to the Victorian past. The site is ideal for parents with children because of the lovely play area and the small but efficient train.

A beautiful place to walk round and spend an evening or afternoon taking in the wonderful sights of the pavilion gardens.
This place takes you back to the wonders of the past how places where designed and the work and thought that went into the planning of these wonderful places.

Really enjoyable day out at the H&H Classic Car Auction. Plenty to see and the catering by the Pavilion Gardens was superb. Bacon rolls are highly recommended as is the Ice cream

Hi Liz, we didn’t have our dog with us but we also didn’t spot any dogs in the cafes. We do tend, as owners to notice them if they’re there. However the day we visited was extremely hot and not many people had their dogs in the park either. I’m sorry I can’t give you a definitive answer and can only suggest ringing a couple of the venues your considering and checking them out directly. Everyone we approached for info was incredibly and refreshingly helpful.
Good luck, Chris

Richard Scott
Buxton, UK1 contribution
Hello Catheeeee, We're really excited that you're visiting us this summer and that your little one wants to go on the train!
Running times for the train vary and are weather dependant. During the summer holidays however, it usually operates between 11/12 - 3/4
If you drop us a message a few days before you visit on Facebook/Twitter we'll be able to give you a better idea.
We look forward to seeing you!
