As avid readers we passed what looked like a large book shop. So the next time we were going past we stopped. Should have taken one of the baskets, as we had a pile of books to carry to the checkout. All vastly reduced. Even...More

We have been visiting this bookshop for many years and have seen it develop from a bookshop with a coffee machine to a busy cafe with bookshop attached. We like the large tables which encourage sitting with strangers and enjoying conversation. The homity pie is...More

What a wonderful review! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely things about the Bookstore and Cafe, we really do appreciate it.

The bookstore has always been worth a detour if you're in the area, but now they have a proper cafe instead of the little tea bar it's really a place to go. It is certainly much busier. The cafe serves interesting lunches and delicious cakes...More

Thank you for your great review...I know it seems a little odd, but sometimes it takes longer to make drinks than it does to serve food! See you again soon hopefully.

Returned after some years to find there is still an excellent choice of books. Had to restrain myself to avoid busting the credit card, as I could easily have spent hundreds of pounds. A new addition is a fairly large cafe, which serves drinks, snacks...More

We returned to the Bookstore last week for a welcome cup of tea and browse round the wonderful selection of books and cards.

Stopped for a drink whilst passing, such a lovely atmosphere. After having a drink I wandered around the massive bookshop looking at all the different genres. Well worth a visit, wish I had been able to stay longer.

We have been here quite a few times now whenever we stay at Earl Sterndale nearby. The Bookstore is massive and full of bargains and it is impossible to come out of the store without buying some books. We decided to get a pot of...More

Thank you so much for your review...we were a member of staff down in the cafe on Sunday morning and so they were indeed running a little behind schedule I’m afraid....hence no cakes out by then! Sorry about that and hopefully you’ll get your drinks...More

Always a must place to stop off at over the years! Books and cake! What more do you need! Haven't eaten here since the new café - which is excellent! Fortify yourself with tea and cake and then gest lost in books!!

When you enter the bookstore, it seems quite random having a cafe inside as well. Funnily enough, it does blend in well! Went for a long weekend in Buxton and searched on Tripsadvisor for somewhere to go. Opted for brunch on day 2. Very busy,...More

I’m going to guess that you came last Saturday mid morning? It was, by far, the loudest day we have ever experienced! The NCT had asked if they could have a story telling session and so there were babies and toddlers galore. Then came the...More
