Neighbouring Balmoral Castle, Royal Lochnagar is the perfect place to discover how Scotch Whisky is made. Watch as our team of operators tend to our traditional mashtun, gleaming copper stills and fill casks at our traditional distillery, which retains much of its original charm. The tour ends with a dram of the award-winning Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old Single Highland Malt.

Small distillery and is exceptional as it functions as a working museum. Small, friendly and informative, the tour was kept lively and humours by our personable tour guide Eric. Tour ends with a dram and £5 off a bottle of whisky. The tour was like the whisky; simple, uncomplicated and both charming and enjoyable. Will be back.

Good tour. Our tour guide Ken was very informative and it's well worth a look around how they keep to old traditions of whisky making going.

Sparge; to moisten by sprinkling with water. The action of sprinkling or splashing. Taken from the Latin word "spargere" to sprinkle. Around 1550-1560 We were told nobody knows the origin of the word. Not the best tour we've ever done. We paid for the £12 tour which was supposed to include a taste of four drams. That was two drams... More

Our guide, Ronald, was a fountain of knowledge with a pleasant manner. It was good to see the process of whisky production in a small Distillery where it is easier to appreciate all that is involved The shop has a very pleasant atmosphere with a fine array of whiskies.

Smashing tour of a "small scale" distillery. What it may lack in size, it make up for in friendliness and all the staff we encountered were excellent. Special praise to Alex, our tour guide, who led our party through all the processes of the distillery. Especially enjoyed the nosing at the end of the tour, ( and the dram ...obviously)... More

We arrived at the distillery for a 09h30 start on a bright & sunny but quite cool morning. We were met with great enthusiasm by our super cool guide Eric, who hails from Mauritius, spent time in Botswana & now has the enviable job of being a tour guide in a magnificent old Scottish whiskey distillery. He took us around... More

Visited the distillery on an open day and took part in the "Dram at the Dam" , a walk to the water source used in the distillation of this very nice whisky. Annie our guide was very knowledgeable and informative about the process and history of the distillery. A very nice distillery in a beautiful location and maybe a good... More

Spent the afternoon here with my son and his wife. Brilliant afternoon. Especially enjoyed the guided tour which was completely free. Our guide Ken was easy to listen to friendly and knowledgeable. Finished off with a free wee dram. Lovely original distillery, one of the best we've been to. 100% recommend.
