Very well laced out and full of great info. Fantastic display. Ita a must see for history buffs. The castle is a true part of the history of Carlisle from roman times and Tudor

We found the museum to be very interesting, it’s not a big building but there is an awful lot to be found within. Recommended for a visit

The best thing about Carlisle Castle!
Sep 2020
I am no military history buff but this little museum was fascinating. Every display cabinet has something really interesting, and although it’s the museum of the King’s Own Border Regiment it’s a snapshot of Empire and decline as well as more recent history. I never knew we had troops in China in the 20s! The WWII war-time recruitment poster that makes the army sound like the boy scouts for grown-ups was one of my favourite exhibits. Highly recommended.

Plenty to See
Aug 2020
There was plenty that didn't interest me, but also plenty that did, so there's probably something for everyone. One for the military history buffs. Allow a good hour or so.

An amazing amount of detail, relevant not only to Borders Regiments, but those other Armed forces who served alongside.

The museum creates an empathic vision of life for soldiers and the bravery they showed in serving the army.

This was actually the highlight of our visit to Carlisle castle . The staff were nice and friendly . The museum is not huge but it is crammed full of very interesting items . The displays have been very well put together and weave a colourful story of the various regiments stories . It was busy when we visited so you can feel a little bit rushed but it was Definetly worth visiting

Boarder Regiment History
Aug 2020 • Friends
Ths museum in the grounds of Carlisle Castle gives a detailed history of the Boarder Regiment through out their history. A range of items from medals to artillery fills in the detail of the regiments campaigns in the Boer Wars, and both World Wars.

Excellent - varied displays that would cater to a military enthusiast or casual visitor

This museum was so excellent. The expansive collection was on display, but there were several layers of engagement available for the depth a visitor wanted. Not at all drab, as older military museums sometimes are cursed with, this space was well designed, super informative and shared personal accounts. Coronavirus wise - we felt safe and spaced out. Upon entrance, the guide perfectly explained what to do/what was different with today's visit. It was welcoming and assuring.

Very well set out with many interesting artefacts - uniforms, weaponry, medals etc. Audio visual installations help really bring the history of the regiments to life. The staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Visited here when visiting the adjacent Carlisle Castle. It was extremely interesting and informative. It is perfectly designed and the information on it's exhibitions and exhibits is easy to follow and understand. Covid-19 safety measures have being put into place. One way system. Reccommend a visit to those who are interested in the military.
