Excellent play park with lots to do in Carlisle city within minutes walk
Aug 2020 • Family
We came here on our way to solway holiday village to let the kids have a play before continuing our journey. We were surprised at how good it was. There was a lack of seating but we sat on grass as weather was good. The children enjoyed the range of equipment and the sand pit. We saw a sign for toilets but we didn’t use them as we weren’t sure if they were open or how far we’d have to walk to get them. We walked across road (1 minute) to toilets at indoor market. We paid for 2 hours parking at £2.40. This place is handy for walking into Carlisle town centre and seeing Carlisle Castle which you can see the wall from park. We also took a wander across over road bridge and saw the Abbey and Cathedral. I would highly recommend a visit here for 3-4 hours to see if all .

Dog friendly and lovely gardens
Oct 2019
A favourite spot to walk the dog. The gardens are so well kept and attractive throughout the year, with lovely views of the river. Plenty of parking. Walk through the underpass by the river and have a coffee at The Sands Centre then continue to open fields.

Lovely park, especially in good weather.

I visited the park with my daughter (nearly nine). We saw the park when walking around the outside of the castle walls, and the first chance we had my daughter wanted to visit the play area. This part is excellent for children, divided into areas for different age groups and with enough things that there is no real risk of getting bored. The rest of the park is peaceful and very attractive, and well worth strolling around for an hour or so to escape the nearby city.

Always worth spending an hour here

Bitts Park is an oasis of calm from the traffic on Hardwicke Circus and Castle Way. A well maintained city centre park, it contains numerous features such as a Japanese pagoda, tennis courts, a sports ground at The Sheepmount, an ornamental garden, a climbing activity and a skatepark. Easily accessible from the city centre, with car parks next to Castle Way and The Sands Centre, you can see why Bitts Park is popular. Also it's nice to see the park maintained in a decent condition and restored after the floods of 2015.

Lovely park not far from City centre.
May 2019 • Couples
Well kept park only a short walk from city centre and alongside River Eden. Plenty of good walks in park and along the riverside. Good play area for children. Good to spent a restful couple of hours on a summers afternoon.

Large park with lots of interest
May 2019 • Couples
Visited this park primarily for the children's play area but it contains much more. Lovely walks by the river and joins another memorial park which contains even more interesting features. A good walk on a nice day for a couple of hours or more!

Lovely place to walk
May 2019 • Couples
This large attractive park incorporates a number of attractions - Japanese pagoda, children’s play area, tennis courts, ornamental garden, foundation stones of a former roman bridge across the river and a lovely riverside walk to the point of confluence of the Eden and Calder rivers.

Beautiful with the spring bulbs
Apr 2019 • Solo
Bit Park is well worth visiting. There is a splendid statue of Queen Victoria with more formal planting of lovely tulips and other spring bulbs. At their peak right now. The park is next to the river Eden, and the smell of wild garlic is very strong at the moment as it is in full bloom. P,entry of seats to enjoy the park and trails if you prefer to cycle or walk.
