So, do people actually visit here for the cafe or the art? Visited on a Sunday morning but not very much art displayed, bit disappointed really considering the amount of money which must have been spent on the rennovations! Looked like most people were in the cafe rather than visiting the exhibitions, very odd. Nobody in a couple of the... More

We had a light lunch in the second floor cafe, then spent an enjoyable hour or so looking at an amazing collection of light displays, statues and various art work. It was free to enter with donations encouraged. Well worth a visit

I visited the Towner Gallery recently and really enjoyed it. The Ravilious room was small but fascinating. There are three floors in the gallery but there is a large lift if you are unable to walk the flights of stairs. I saw the "Certain Kind of Light" exhibition which was fun, had a coffee in the cafe which is on... More

We love taking groups of students from the Twin English Centre to the Towner. Armed with an illustrated worksheet, the students are encouraged to use their imagination to interact fully with the exhibitions. Particularly noteworthy were "Towards Night," "The Mseum of Art" and the Light exhibition. They all provoked a lot of discussion and really benefitted our learners. Thank you... More

Visited with kids (9&10yrs). Free visit. Worth visiting regularly as the Towner are always reinventing their space. Get for getting youngsters talking!, Their opinions and feelings about what they feel , hear, see and also touch at the gallery. Gone are the days where you just stand in front of a painting..... the instalments here are thought and feeling provoking!!... More

Towner Art Gallery has some interesting exhibitions and also an excellent permanent collection, including works by Eric Ravilious. There is also a small shop and great coffee bar.
