Unique wooden Stave church built around 1100 AD beautifully restored. Well worth it to have tour guide to explain history and detailed explanation of church and architecture. Features I thought were interesting were a) the small holes where people could stand and be able to...More

This is one of 28 remaining wooden churches that has been beautifully restored. The entrance fee may seem high but is worth the price you pay. There was a scientific crew when we visited who were scanning a piece inside the church to determine its...More

We enjoyed our visit to this church primarily because there was an employee inside to answer questions (in English) & explain what we were looking at--very valuable! I don't know if they always have someone inside providing that service, though.

This medieval wooden church is a rare gem. There's another one very close to this one. Must see!!!! Historic stave church. Few remain.

The carpentry work of this church is amazing. Definitely worth a side trip to go see while you are in Norway. We didn't know that much about the history of these churches and the fact that so few are remaining- all but two in Norway.
