Founded in 1181 it's a Lutheran church dedicated to Saint Olaf, Norway's patron saint. Declared Cathedral in 1537, it has been renovated many times, the last one in 1880 by architects Christian Christie and Peter Andreas Blix. It has the capacity of 1.000 people. The organ with 61 stops is the fifth one and was built by the Austrian firm... More

The Bergen Cathedral is beautiful but I was expecting much more. The beauty of the cathedral is obviois both on the inside and outside but being the cathedral I was seeking to be absorbed into the scenerity and that was lacking. But that was me and it is still a must see.

People working here are amazing! Check out the columns and the cannonball stuck on the outer wall. Very peaceful spot on my Bergen travels!

The church is beautiful, both inside and out and carries lots of history. Definitely worth a visit to check it out.

I loved the church - it was beautiful inside and out. We went back in the evening for a fantastic concert of Grieg music. Definitely see if you can add that to your itinerary!

Very interesting story about this church: the bullet that was fired by and English canon and is still there on the facade!

I happened to stop by the Domkirken the morning of St. Lucia Day and saw that they were having a concert that night. Not only did I get to see the inside of the building, but I got to hear it's amazing acoustics and see a wonderful performance.

Beautiful old church, many of Bergen's oldest churches are all within a short walk of one another, and have art & iconography not seen in other parts of Europe. Check opening hours.

The church is quite plain inside, but the stained glass is pretty. There is also a large pipe organ. There are old gravestones on the grounds, which are interesting. Worth popping in for five minutes.

Pleasant church in the centre of town - look out for the cannonball in the wall outside, courtesy of British privateers! Worth a visit if you're passing.
