We visited the museum on a cold rainy autumn Sunday. It was a combined walk/museum experience. We walked around the area and looked inside the houses, and it was interesting - also the maritime exhibition. Well worth a visit. We wanted to have a nice stop at the café to enjoy a coffee and a waffle. The café was open,... More

We visited as part of a RC shore excursion and had less than 40 minutes with a very good costumed guide and quick peeks on our own after her 30 min presentation. I wanted more time for this well done venue.

Hi How nice to read that you enjoyed your visit. I will pass on your kind words to the guide who was working, I am sure she will ble pleased to hear that you enjoyed her presentation, I agree that 40 minutes is too short to really enjoy the visit, but the time is not set by the museum, so... More

I visited here as part of a cruise ship excursion. Although I enjoyed my visit, it wasn't what I expected. On our short guided tour, our guide was good at explaining what life was like and why the houses were made the way they were. We were also given free time to look around and go in some of the... Thank you for taking time to review the museum. It is true that we don't have interpreters in the houses, but the people working at the museum are more than happy to answer any questions our guests may have. I am glad you had a good time. Eva H More

Spent an hour wandering around here on a port call from a cruise. Interesting view into times gone by with a variety of traditional houses on show. A bit out of town - easily accessed by bike.

This museum is a great place where you can meet a lot of different ages in history. Here you can find different buildings from different times. It somewhat summarizes a lot of Norwegian history, the area, but a guided tour is charged by a small amount, that is however definitely worth it. A must for people wanting to learn as... More

Just outside the town center you will find this museum. You will find some buildings from the old city center (but's a lot of houses there still from old days), a model of parts of "kvadraturen", and some houses from Setesdal and other parts of Vest-Agder. This part is the nicest part of the museum.

The word museum is a misnomer in that you normally expect a building with artifacts. You are actually outside of a 15 inch gun and then go into the bowels of that massive gun. Sort of ironic in that the main attraction of Kristiansand was created by Hitler. It is the only gun left in Norway and DK that guarded... More

Dear Frank M, I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Kristiansand Kanonmuseum. We will bear in mind that signs should be not only in Norwegian, and I do apologize if the language barrier made your experience less enjoyable. Thank you so much for taking time to leave a review! This place is really great with old-time structures. As we were going along the tour we were impressed, Then we found out they were all original authentic buildings and were super impressed! It's amazing how long these structures have stood the test of time. A true cultural gem for Norway. The guides were spectacular- very enthusiastic and happy to share... More

We took a city bus to get here and luckily the bus driver stopped and pointed us in the right direction! After a short walk, we actually entered through the exit but no one seemed to mind. We found our way to the entrance, paid our fee and started exploring the 40 buildings featured in this open-air museum. The oldest... More
