Nice daytrip to take the bus from Oslo to Drobak and then the boat to the Fortress. Nice place to stroll around, look at the scenery and the old fortress building. There's a nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the fjord.

Lot's of history. As you walk thru the fortress they are many informational displays. Pictures and artifacts line the walls, and historical papers are abundant.

Most of the fortress is free to view and walk around, some parts which include a dungeon included a fee. I did not tour the dungeon. Great views of the harbor, gives you an appreciation of how old Oslo is.

Nice and interesting place to visit. A walk around the fortress and the island gives a good understanding of the dramatical first hours of Germanys occupation of Norway during WW2.

There are excellent and some very interesting displays that tell, the story of Nirway's history through the defense of the city. We didn't allow enough time. We should have spent half a day there.

You climb up to the fortress in ten minutes walk along a narrow road but can also get on a fancy tourist little train; once you get to the main stone entrance you have to be lucky that there are no private events inside, otherwise...More
