A must

The town hall of Oslo is magnificent. Entrance is free. The frescos are amazing. This is where the ceremony of the Nobel Peace Price is held each year.

Beautiful Art inside and out - dont miss it
Feb 2020
We were a little late in the afternoon going to the city hall (Rat Haus) as it closed at 4pm (in winter - check the times) - but we had a good hour to look round. You could freely visit all the amazing rooms, fantastic art, beautiful wooden tables and council room - outside the fables of Thor, Odin etc surround the building - just fantastic.

Cool

The building on the outside isn't too much to look at, but it is really beautiful on the inside.

We had a guided tour and it was a really interesting experience.

If this is your type of thing you will enjoy it, but if you want excitement then it's not for you.

Certainly worth a visit

It is free to enter and it is well worth a spot on your tour itinerary. The main hall is interesting but the highlight is the upstairs galleries filled with painted walls. Go down stairs too to the biggest coat room ever!

What's not to like? Its free!

Always admired the City hall from the outside, not realising it was open to the public. Was admiring the outside art of Norse mythology when realised people were walking in, checked with security and . . .no problem. It is probably only a 20 minute walk around but able to see great arty walls on two floors and walk through the council chamber. If you walk past, go in it's not what you expect!

Best City Hall I've Ever Seen
Aug 2019
I don't know what your city hall is like, but this city hall is as amazing as a lot of churches in the world. The paintings, history, and details at this city hall were very fun and interesting. I recommend doing the free tour and learning about the city hall and country.

Who knew that City Halls were a thing?
Aug 2019
Of the three City Halls (Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen) we saw in Scandinavia, this was the least impressive, but we still enjoyed it very much. One of the problems could have been that we got there late in the afternoon and they close a 4:00, so we didn't have much time to explore.
