Less than half of the information in this museum is available in English, and none is available in any other languages. That being said the museum is free and still worth going through. They have historical military equipment and information from the viking age through...More

unfortunately, most indos are in Norwegian only. the museum is great - with ots of info also on port-war involvemnet of Noerwegina armed forces in KFOR etc etc for the active ones: one can go into vehicules and feel how "comfi" tanks etc can be.

Once every so often you unexpectedly come across a building or event that totally enthralls you. This was my case with the Armed Forces Museum within Akershus Fortress. There was so much to see and unfortunately we didn't have the time to see it all....More

Very impressive collection of Norwegian & German armaments from all eras, but particularly World War II... this is the ONE museum (of all the museums we visited in Oslo) that our son longs to go back to: higher praise I cannot give!!

You can reach this museum through the Akershus Castle grounds or by walking around the road by waters edge below the castle. This is a large museum with numerous artifacts from various military eras. It includes vehicles, cannon as far back as the 1600s, small...More

Only a smattering of exhibits in this museum are in English, so I found it only marginally interesting. It's a pity because I think it could have been really good. Nonetheless, I did learn just how good an ally Norway is to Great Britain and...More
