The theater sits in a park along Karl Johan Gate, just in front of the Royal Palace. The architecture is interesting, and makes for some nice photos, especially with the park as a background. We ventured inside the lobby, which provided a brief glimpse at the interior design, but we were not able to get inside the theater itself. There... More

The building is a grand old building With lots of paintings inside of the greatest actors and actresses in former years, and also outside the building there are scuptors of some of the most important playwriters and actor and actress from earlier times. The main theatre hall is very impressive and feels like old days. But there are some small... More

We were staying at the BEST WESTERN Karl Johan Hotell in Olso, just across the street from the National Theater. Stopped in to see what was going on - a contemporary production of Ibsen's Peer Gynt in Norwegian. The ticket agent said if we showed up at a certain time before the performance that we could get some very good,... More

The Nationaltheatret is placed in the heart of Oslo very close to the palace and is also surrounded by wonderful walking areas. The pleasantness of the area is enough for me to recommend it to any visitor.

Architecture of the building is amazing. It looks great from each angle. Just walk around and admire various sculptures and flowers. By the entrance to the station there is a lovely dandelion-like fountain.
