Everything I read about this fabulous piece of architecture was true! It is a work of art. Inside is just as fabulous. There is a rather nice cafe you can dine and they also offer tours which we did not do.

Went during day and night time. We preferred how it looked like during night time. Great photos can be taken with lesser crowd compared to the day. A not to be missed when in Oslo.

This beautiful opera house rises majestically from the waters of the Oslo fjord, with its glass iceberg sculpture, and shows off its modern elegance. Outside people walk on the marble roof for fantastic views of the city (except there is massive construction around Oslo right...More

I've seen several operas here, all good. I've been more impressed by the more modern operas than the more traditional ones. The free introduction an hour before the show is recommended. Nice building too, both the exterior and the interior.

The building is made from marble and granite and appears to rise from the fjord like a glacier. It is said to be the best place to see a sunset in Oslo, although I cannot confirm this since the sun set way after our bedtime....More

Beautiful architecture, beautiful place, great atmosphere especially during summer days. However, the building operators were surprised by the public interest when it was opened so it turned out to be a well-known spot to visit by chance. The place can perhaps be developed into having...More

I have been to too many places but I find this one as a perfect example of embracing Modern Architecture, at the same time have a "layback, family" feel. The view inside and outside are both stunning. There weren't much tourists when we visited, maybe...More

As I read, many comments said the view from the rooftop is beautiful. My question is; are we free to go up there or do we have to had an opera ticket? Thank you.

No it is free, the building is built in such a way that you can access the roof from the outside! It is broad, and safe, but in the winter it does get a bit slippery! Enjoy the view. Helen

We plan to see the Cinderella Ballet in June. We have two adults, plus a 22-year old college student and an 18-year old high school student, both going to school in the USA. Are they eligible for the "student" prices as both have student identification.
