Very Viennese! Great cakes + typical food

Went there so often, it is really worth driving there by bus, bicycle... Or even to go there by foot. Great in all Meanings.

Spent there a pleasant afternoon break from hiking with an excellent cheese cake and an "Einspänner", one of 8 different Viennese coffee variations on the menu.

We celebrated my mothers birthday and had a wonderful table on the terrace, a great menu (crispy Chanterelle salad, the vlassic Wiener Schnitzel), accompanied by Gemischter Satz from Weingut Wieninger) and excellent service . Hotseradish was out . Thanks for the memorable evening.

In between the woods, historic paintings decorating the restaurant, quality dishes, decent noble quiet, fancy staff, next to horse stalls baseball and golf field. 1min from bus station, lot of walking and cycling paths around, huge playgrounds for kids 3mins away

For me, the Lusthaus is always the turning point of my regular jogging in Vienna. And the street leading here, the Prater Hauptallee is a real joggers paradise: it leads from the Prater ferris wheel up to Lusthaus over 8km, and each kilometer has a sign so you know the distance you covered.

I ordered a table for 10 person a week ago. Today, the evening before a lunch they canceled a table with no sorry. Just they had to give the table somebody else.

It's spring in Vienna. For a PERFECT day, head to Prater Park, not for the amusements, but for the lovely walk through the woods and, at the end, your reward: a delicious, delightful lunch out on the Lusthaus veranda. You can't do better on a beautiful afternoon in springtime. It's maybe three or four kilometers down the Prater's "main street,"... More

I treated Austrian friends to Sunday brunch / lunch at this lovely old restaurant. They chose the restaurant. It is located in the forested Prater of Vienna. Lunch downstairs on the terrace was perfect. The food was very good and authentic. The service was excellent. The other clients were mostly Viennese. There is very little traffic around the restaurant which... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
