Well worth a trip for Klimt fans, this is a beautiful building, build around Klimt's original studio, which has been preserved, with lots of helpful information available.

Klimt's atelier is located in a residential area and can be reached by tram 58A from Hietzing (stop Feldmühlgasse Verbindungsbahn). Actually, the original atelier was a bit different from the past since it occupied just the basament. The first floor is now used for concerts...More

This is very much off the beaten track but well worth the journey. It is three U-Bahn stops further on from the Schonbrunn Palace, and then five minutes' walk. Although the the original garden house has been considerably enlarged since Klimt worked there, the displays...More

But the walk gives a chance to explore the neighborhood. Very quiet as I was the one person there. The attendant was very friendly. The studio itself was worth the time it took to get there.

Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow
of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has
interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence
and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the
other half to discover the secret charms of this posh
residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at
Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down
