The entrance price automatically includes an audio guide which provided interesting extra information as we walked around. The museum is well worth a visit. It gives interesting insight into Austrian history and includes the apartments where the Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Sissi lived.

The Hofburg Imperial Apartments is last of the trio of museums (see separate reviews for the Sisi Museum and Imperial Silver Collection) found in the complex and entered with a single admission ticket. The living quarters somewhat logically reflect the times of Franz Joseph and...More

Visited on Tuesday 10th October. When you are at the Hofburg you must allow time to have a look at the Kaiser Apartments there.

Unfortunately we found that most of the items in the kaiserappartements were recreations of items, and not the originals. The audio tour gives a bit of insight into the royals who lived here, which is ok, but in my opinion the Schonbrunn Palace tells the...More

The Imperial Apartments was a wonderful experience, but it was very crowded and, therefore, it was sometimes difficult to stand until the explanation in the audio guide ends. The staff was nice and helpful.

This historic residence gives an insight into how the royals used to live. They led a lavish lifestyle but Franz Joseph also worked extremely hard. His room was spartan in comparison to his wife which spoke volume of his love and admiration for her. There...More

History is brought to life in these reproductions of the Hapsburgs' living areas. The Sisi Museum flows right into the apartments, so after learning about the Emperor and Empress's lives and relationships, you can immediately put it in perspective by seeing their homes and possessions....More

Armed with an informative audio guide, I walked through over 600 years of splendors which belonged to the Habsburg royalty. They lived well. The tour takes you through several rooms and as you might expect, they're beautiful and ornate. Many personal possessions are on display....More
