The Viennese Orangery was used as a location for magnificent festivities as far back as the days of the emperor. We are continuing this tradition! The musical performance of the well known Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra accompanied by masterful singing and dancing will be the highlight of your trip to Vienna! In the longest orangery building in the world, you will be transported to the Viennese Classical era by the Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss.

Attending for a classical music concert, the acoustic was a bit disappointing, and the bar service really poor. The performance in general was good, despite were only 7 musicians and two opera singers. Nice descoration and confortable seats make the experience good but not great.

We bought tickets from the front of the castle to the Sunday night concert. While the concert was pleasant enough and certainly showed great talents of the performers, the men selling the tickets did not accurately describe what we would be seeing. They showed us the brochure, which has a cover of a big orchestra, with a backdrop of a... More

This was a dinner and concert combination. Ticket price on face 129 Euro, but with brokers fee, another 20%. If you book your ticket on line, you have to go to the Orangerie entrance, 200 meters north of the palace entrance, to get your tickets. Then walk BACK to the palace entrance to find the restaurant for dinner, Then go... More

I paid for one of their 6 PM holiday concerts that was actually within the Schonbrunn itself. The room was very small and fit about 100 hundred I would guess. It wasn't an orchestra, just a pianists, 5 strings, 2 woodwinds, and two singers. The music was alright for the price, though some pieces simply can't be done well without... More

A delightful setting for Mozart and Strauss. You will enjoy it, also. When they get to "The Blue Danube," you'll know why you came to Vienna.

Well, no longer you can find horses there, but it was indeed the royal horse stable in former times. Then it was the place to store the plants and flowers in winter. And nowadays it is a mini conference center. Location is close to the Schoenbrunn Palace.

My wife and I along with another couple attended a dinner and performance at the Orangerie Schloss Schönbrunn at my recommendation after I read reviews of the venue on TripAdvisor. After a very mediocre, almost cafeteria-style dinner, we couldn't have been more disappointed by the venue and performance of the orchestra. The hall-like setting made for a horrible first impression... More

We were able to attend a concerted which included a symphony, opera and some ballet. We thoroughly enjoyed it! You could close your eyes and let the sound take you to your special place. You can take the subway and the entrance is right across the road.

Staying in Hietzing

Neighbourhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
