We had breakfast here twice on a break from visiting the Naschmarkt and the museums. Cool locale, friendly staff and honestly very good food. In addition of course to the very good coffee. Nice pastries too. Enjoyed the different kinds of toasts and eggs. Including a toast covering in chives and butter. Yum.

In keeping with all restaurants, the continued practice of allowing smoking camea as a bit of a shock to the system. This one however, does maintain adequate separation between the two areas and our experience was not spoiled as a consequence. Once you have strolled through the Naschmarkt, head across the road to the Dreschler. You will be rewarded with... More

Interesting cafe near Naschmarkt, but the main draw, unusual opening hours cannot be counted on.

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
